Hi i got my first land cruiser last june, i have been surfan these forums for inspiration for my own build, and i think i have come to a point i can be of inspiration for others.

So this is my daily driver, my workhorse, my camper van, trail trail master and money pit. I bought a 1986 HJ60 for the cash i had left after going to uni, and was my first step to be a man. It is a typical north europe spec HJ60, 2H engine, 24V electrical system, five speed and full floater with the lift up tailgate. and this one have a 2" lift installed by a po.

It was not in too bad shape when i got it, but after 25 years and 340k km on salty norwegian roads it had some issues.

I really like the tall and skinny look, and the first thing the truck got was some nice 235/85 R16 (32x9) tires on splitrims from a 42.

Then after some intense overtime and saving i sendt my car to poland for a bodywork makeover, where they got rid of all the rust and put some thick scratch resistant tractor paint on it.

looks like new:)

Then i have some posershots i have posted on this forum earlier but i hope you can handle a rerun.

Finally in may i found some 255/85 R16 bfg mud. The pornstar of tall and skinny.

Now last weekend i woke the old 2H from its slumber with a turboglide kit.

Now after the turbo was mounted i only need to fix the interior to look as nice as the exterior. I have accomplished everything i wanted to do with this truck and thought i would spend at least 5 years to get it like this. so i feel kinda empty with nothing left to do on the truck. I like the stock look, and like to have a truck with no fluff or unnecessary equipment. I would love to have a arb front bumper and a rear bumper with tire carrier, but it is strictly illegal with after market bumpers here so i guess it it out of the question. But it would nice to get my full size spare tire out of my cargo area.
A roofrack would also be sweet, but it is so noisy at highway speeds and i dont have anything to put there. However when i see all the nice sixties in here i know i cant restrain myself for future mods.

thanks for stopping by.

Now those are some great photo's. That is truly a tidy looking Cruiser ildhane. Awesome work!!
I'm a bit jealous of that turbo on the 2H though, I'm waiting for mine to let go in a big way and then either rebuild with a turbo setup or find a 12H-T to bolt back in.
Knowing my luck the 2H will outlast me!!!

thanks, the top picture is from stavanger in norway (as most of the other pictures) and the last one is from the beach in hirtshals, denmark. if anyone wondered.

i should mention my extra lights. I could not find a nice and practical way to mount the more classic big buckets, so i ended up with these high tech computer designed small spots with good spread and long range. Other positive sides is the high mount gives more ideal light and they are not in danger of being destroyed by unfriendly branches.

I love the 2H after the turbo conversion, it is still no race car and i have only turned the fuel screw a 3/8 turn. The added torque makes all the difference and the engine is much smoother than before. I can climb 7% grades in 4th at 80kmt without any problems. And the sound is sooo sweet. i can hear a faint whine at idle, and the whistle really picks up at 1000rpm:)

ildhane, your 60 looks really nice & clean!
Definitely the way I'm gonna go with my 61.
Oh yeah and picture-wise, I can't think of any better place than Norway.
I did a 4000km round trip from Helsinki in Finland to Å and back with my HJ
and the scenery just blows your mind...after you are on the Norwegian side of the border!

Wow, fantastic photos! The background in the shot with the landrover is gorgeous..

So, you're telling me that there is Norway you can mount aftermarket bumpers on your 60?

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

thanks everyone:) the scenery here in rogaland is quite spectacular, from long white beaches in the flat lowland and to the fjords all within a 20km radius.

I had a go at the "byfjord" tunnel today, it is a 5.8km (3.6mile) subsea tunnel that goes down to 223m (731 feet) beneath sea level and offer a nice 8% grade. I had to push it in 3rd to get up at roughly 60kmt before the turbo conversion. Now i could do it without much effort in 4th at 80kmt, i even overtook a car going up!! that has never happened before.

beautiful truck and some great shots. Like most of us in the US - i'm jealous of the 2h - especially w/ the turbo.

I like your lights - do you have any shots at night showing them on/off for comparison? I'm a bit of a light geek - so love the idea of those.

what are you going to do to the interior? I see you have the typical cracked/torn drivers seat...

GL!

i think the 2H is a bit overrated on these forums, if you ever where to drive a untorboed 2H over a mountain road you would probably not be so interested anymore. The 2H-T is something else:) i am jealous of the smooth 2F, and would really like to drive a fj60 some day.

The lights are not that great but good enough, anything is better than the stock lighting. I dont have a comparison shot so you have to take my word:) I am thinking about getting some proper xenon lights to put in the same place. But it is streetlights on 90% of the roads i use on a daily basis. so no need for big lights just yet.

No super extra special plans for the interior, need to fix the driver seat and make some panels for the cargo area out of some proper plywood and some ears for securing cargo. I also had plans for soundproofing the whole car and put in a proper hifi system, like on this plan. positions 1&2 would suit 6.5" component kits, position 3 is for some smallish woofers and 4 is a good for a amplifier.

but the turbo sounds so good i dont need to keep the noise out or a soundsystem.

Hi,
That is one awesome looking 60, great job.
How do you find the 255 85's?
I'm currently running 235 85 16 AT's on mine, but the next big trip is going to need something quite a bit better in the mud. I'm seriously thinking about 255 85 16 BFG MT's but am a bit worried about the clearence in the arches.
Do you get much/any rubbing when flexing the springs?
I've got HD OME springs which give me a bit of lift but don't want to go any more extreem than that.
Have fun with your truck and if you've got any more pics with stunning Norwegian backdrops, they'd go down a treat too.

Sam

thanks sam, i got these 255s from a fellow cruiserhead, they sat on a 42 he imported from italy. I have not noticed any rubbing at all, i have not tried full lock on full flex, i suspect they _may_ rub in he frame.

What a treat - beautiful rig and backdrop - Thanks Ildane!

For God's sake - if you have not watched the Youtube with the turbo, DON'T! Nothing will sound as sweet ever again. Wow.
