If this topic has been discussed please point me in the right direction.

I have owned my 69 FJ40 for 12 years now and love working on it. Over the last few years my time has become more and more limited (work/kids sports, life) and have not been able to keep up with everything. Currently, I need to rebuild my carb (single bbl giving me all kinds of grief), get timing adjusted and get new muffler. I keep saying I will get to it but don't, therefore my FJ just sits in my driveway. I would love to be able to take it in to a trusted mechanic and get these things dialed in so I can spend more time cruising to the beach in it rather than under the hood.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Can you pull the carb and mail it? @65swb45 (Mark, 818-953-9230) is in Burbank, but I think he might be backed up. He would be an excellent CA choice if you are not in a hurry. Also, @FJ40Jim is another excellent choice in Ohio, (About Us). Both of these fellas are the finest old-school Land Cruiser folks out there.

I think there are some other good players on MUD too.

Manny, I just sent you a reply to your PM

Bottom line is you WANT 65swb45 on your carb. His rebuild of my 68 single bbl was like giving my 40 a heart transplant. It was always problematic but 65swb45 brought it back to a like new state for me. Now for the first weekend in 6 mos I'm on the trail...

I have a 66 and took mine into Bob's Carb in Oceanside. Although they are not FJ specific, they specialize in all classic car carbs. For mechanic, SD Trux is the best. The owner is a cruiserhead...
