Decided I needed a little more stuff to do in my life today:
Plenty dusty under there, going to pull the heater core out and just go for hell at this point. I will take everything off and clean it, then sound proof the firewall to the same extent as I’ve done with the rest of the rig.

after 1.5 years of sitting outside, finally moving back under a roof (new shop), so you can say things are getting a little serious...
first things first, put the 37s that have been in storage under it
also finally finished the steering column with new ignition switch that surfaced in box of parts found during the move

for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to take things further apart than start putting things back together
glad I did though, as the HVAC system is pretty nasty. I'm mostly positive those are mouse turds getting blown into everyones face every time the fan is on...
also gives me the opportunity to go ahead and do the last bit of sound deadening on this rig, the firewall. will need to keep as much engine rattle out of the cab as possible with the little cumminGs
started sifting through my pile of OEM parts needed to finish the projects as this goes back together too, unfortunately it's a few of those containers in the background too

Doing a little comparing between mirrors, powered on the right, manual on the left:
Working away at removing more stuff (what am I thinking??). Pretty sure this paint hasn’t seen the light of day in about 28 years.
Came out decently, but won’t be going back in.
Now I just need to figure out how to get dry ice to stick to vertical surfaces…
Some pretty sweet wiring done for this alarm. Taking that out and adding my own “de-activator”. Repairing the harness along the way.

Anybody want to buy a non-working alarm system??
The steering shaft seal was replaced rather recently and I did not force it to one side or anything when installing. Pretty bummed it only lasted about a year of driving or so. Maybe two at max. (edit: July 23, 2019 according to this thread)
New plate and new seal ready for install though, just in case the warped plate was a contributing factor somehow (seriously doubt it though)
Anybody know what these bad mamajammas are for? Specifically. Two big harness connectors that have what appear to be jumpers wrapped back into the harness. Just curious if they have anything to do with diesel stuff. Location is behind/above stereo area.
Made a final decision on new stalk controls setup. I am not going to mess around with cruise control so I will not be transferring the old cruise controls to the new controls. This will allow me to run a newer, 95+ column cover for a cleaner look.

Sending this (brake pedal bracket) out for powdercoat so I don’t have to deal with this surface rust in the future.
This is why I don’t like to put new sound deadener over the old stuff. You can see how shiny the surface that was in contact with sheetmetal is. This old OEM stuff is super brittle and not necessarily in contact with the sheetmetal anymore. The point of sticky deadener is to adhere to sheetmetal and keep it from vibrating. Putting it on top of old OEM just doesn’t get the job done the way I like.
Spent the rest of the evening clearing all the parts that have been stored inside it. Next will be to drop the headliner so I can do some wiring up there.
