This issue is really expanding. My girls friends MDX may be included, Acura is unsure at this point. Kudos for Toyota getting right on this.

Thanks for the post.

Oops. I see this is a duplicate post -- my bad.

Perhaps this should be a sticky while events unfold?

100 Series Airbag Control Module Recall

Thank for the notice!

Title
Safety Recall G0C (Interim G1C) - Interim Notice Certain 2003-2006 Land Cruiser Certain 2004-2006 4Runner Certain 2005-2006 Sequoia and Tundra Curtain-Shield Airbag (CSA) Airbag Control Module
Status
Remedy Not Available
Description
The subject vehicles are equipped with side Curtain-Shield-Airbags (CSAs) which deploy from the roof rails in the event of certain types of crashes. Due to improper programing in the airbag control module, there is a possibility that, under certain specific and limited conditions shortly after vehicle startup, the CSAs and seat belt pre-tensioners could activate when not necessary. Unexpected activation of the CSAs could increase the risk of injury to the occupant.
Remedy
Toyota is currently preparing the remedy. Toyota currently anticipates the remedy to be available in September, 2016. The remedy will consist of the replacement of the airbag control module.

Any update on getting a remedy in progress on this recall ??

I haven't seen anything yet. Anyone else?

I got a notice in the mail today from Toyota stating a "remedy" is available for the airbag related recall. It said LC would take 2-1/2 hrs and all other vehicles would take an hour.

Does anyone know what the "remedy" involves? Airbag control module? If so, where is that located in the truck?

I'm half tempted not to bother having the remedy done because I don't want them to screw up something else in the process. However, a side airbag deploy first thing in the morning would definitely wake me up!

I just had this recall completed at dealer on Monday. Work order simply says replace center air bag sensor. I have no idea where it was located.

Mine goes in on Tuesday, apparently they have to remove the centre console so I would assume its underneath....

Just received my notice as well. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get this accomplished in Spain. I'm not the only 100-Series here obviously, but I'm might be the only LX470 in the country... I have contacted Lexus with no response thus far.

Right. That's what I guessed.

I'll see if I can get mine scheduled.

Got my notice today. This should be interesting, because my airbag light was already on. I went in and paid to have someone look at it at the dealer and they said the main control module was bad. A month later I got a notice that the Airbag control module was recalled. The notice says that "Curtain-Shield Airbag (CSA) Control Module" is bad. I am wondering and hoping if they are the same.

I used to manage one of the TSB and Recall databases and I specifically remember that Toyota used to authorize any extra parts necessary to make things work in many cases. I am hoping this will be one of those cases...

During that time I also saw that Honda was the devil. Don't let the slick ads fool you.

I don't see the "Curtain-Shield Airbag (CSA) Control Module" on this, or it's not labeled. I am worried there are several controllers and the one that is broken is not the one they are replacing.

I browsed through the other notes and thought about how rough my dirt road can be. Perhaps it's best it's been "off" because of an issue of some kind. Anyone ever heard of one going off on a waterbreak or something? My drive way has a few of these, call it a speedbump on steroids where I can't get the pitch right...

If the console has to come out then it's the main airbag control module which is located just under the MFD( under the cassette deck & controls) all of the airbag sensors are managed by this part.

You can get an idea of all the Ecu, sensor and bag locations from here:

Got mine done last week and pretty sure they took the center console out since everything was rearranged. Had about an hour or so turn around time.
