The truck came with this power steering pump. It still works but the bearings seem to be going out because it now turns pretty hard and gritty feeling. I know it’s made by Toyota but nothing more than that. Would it be cheaper to just buy a new pump or rebuild what I have?
TIA

I don't think rebuilding is a great option, having read about others who have tried.
good used, or valley hybrids saginaw setup, @orangefj45
some have tried auto parts stores rebuilds with not much luck either

I saw that City Racer sells a new pump for $295. I went to Valley Hybrids but I didn’t see anything listed in the way of a PS pump. I was really hoping a rebuild kit would be a good option. I see a number of pumps on Amazon for as little as $35 too but I assume they’re junk

over in the 60 section, should be the same for a 2F in a 40

I was hoping Georg would chime in
you can always call them
I'm wondering if your 2F has been swapped out as it looks like you have a stock setup but a 77 block would not be drilled and tapped for the stock bracket

I bought the one on rock auto, i believe. You reuse your old reservoir. Has been working fine for a while (almost 2 years).

Did not recall a CR option being available at the time.

City Racer site is paused currently for the upcoming holiday, but I believe that the PS pump listed there is sold out.

I rebuilt the ps pump on my BJ 60, which looks to be the same pump, using a rebuild kit from RockAuto. 4 years later, it is still going strong. I think it was a Gates kit, and the rebuild was surprisingly easy I thought. But I could imagine that if the pump has significant wear on the various internal parts, replacing just seals and bearings will be a band aid fix. Bottom line, you have to start with a decent pump for a rebuild to make sense. I think this is why buying a rebuilt pump is hit and miss.

I’ve also bought a new ps pump for my 42 from City Racer. It seems to be a good quality pump and has worked flawlessly for many years.
