Guys, I have a black 97 non-locked with 124K, new tires at 116K, just spent around 1,000 at Gene Messer Toyota on leaks and such and got a new radiator about 5 months ago in Basalt, Co. bought originally about 18 months ago and spent about 3,900 on belts and other engine stuff and paint job (hood was fading, i kept it black). Mule roof rack, Pioneer flip out DVD, overall great shape. no problems, but i drive back and forth from texas to aspen, co nearly every month and it's just a tough ride climbing all those hills. I'm thinking in the 9K-10K range? Not sure I will sell it but am considering, just wanted opinions. thanks

Don't take this the wrong way (cuz I'm a fellow owner), but I think 9-10k is not gonna get you a sale.
Not saying you can't put it out there at 9-10k, but I think the market is probably more in the 6-8k range. Worth checking out the completed auctions on ebay to see where those prices are. Excluding the lifted/modded rigs, looks like the closest one was a 1996 with 130k that got 19 bids to $6200, but didn't hit the reserve.

I just paid $6,400 for a 1996 Lexus in great condition...it had 127,000 miles.
Rich, you must have love the 80 Series Cruiser eh! Looking at your signature, you sold two 100 series at low mileage, why is that?

thanks. i'd just put about 6K into it in a year and a half so didn't want to just get creamed. odds are i'll keep it, just wanted some honest opinions which i knew i'd get here, thanks!
I do love these trucks...buying a 3rd as soon as my first two 80 Series builds are dialed in and working flawlessly.
I sold my 100 Series Cruisers for a variety of reasons.
I purchased purchased a super clean 1997 Lexus LX-450 after discovering IH8MUD. At that point, the 100 Series was given to my Mom to drive. After a few years, I decided to sell the 100 Series because I was happy with my 80 and decided I wanted to get good money for the truck while I still could.
My ex GF drove the truck just once while I was in the process of selling it and she wanted it. She sold her Toyota RAV 4 and purchased it from me. My Mom was NOT happy...!! My ex GF named it Tom Cruiser. She loved it...!!
1 month after I sold it to my ex GF, I got an offer on my 2001 from an ad I was running. The offer was too good to turn down. I sold it for 56% of what I paid for it with 80,000 miles on it 6 years after purchasing it. The vehicle was in MINT condition.
I convinced my GF to sell me back the vehicle. She was NOT happy. To try and make both women happy, I purchased my Mom a Honda CRV ... which she likes ... and my ex GF a 2006 TLC which I got a killer deal on. I did not sell it to her, I just let her drive it. She did not like it nearly as much as the 2001 ... and neither did I to be honest. Looking back, I wish I had kept the 2001. It was a nicer truck.
Eventually, I broke up with that GF and sold the 2006. It was nice but I liked my 80 Series better.
I now have two (2) Lexus LX-450 Cruisers both built up very heavily. I am looking to buy a third and as soon as I find a low mileage, clean, rust free vehicle ... I am buying it and building that one as well.
The 3rd one will be more extreme than either of these two. Fully rebuilt and modified engine, LandTank Turbo, re-geared transfer case for lower low range, 37" or better tires, dual hydraulic winches front & rear, etc.

For a quick sale you may want to price it at around 7-8k. If you want to wait a little while to find the "right buyer", and get a little more you can price it around 8-11k depending on condition.

I agree with this. It also depends on your area. fj80's get snapped up very quickly on the west coast. A decent late model fj80 with ~120k miles would be a steal at $8500 here.
After six months or so of looking, I ended up paying $10.5k for mine (109k miles, SoCal truck). I payed more than I wanted to, but the fact that it was exactly what I was looking for (zero rust, no rips in the interior) and being only a few blocks away from my house made up for it. Having it close by *easily* saved me hundreds of dollars in my time, airfare, gas & potential break down troubles. Plus I was getting tired of endlessly looking and having to have an eagle eye on craigslist, autotrader, etc...
Keep in mind that there are companies that pay people to watch out for good deal land cruisers so they can dismantle and sell the parts. In this respect, always price higher than you expect to get.

I'm sorry to say it but you will not recoup that money if you sell. It sounds like you had the work done at a dealer, so you could have done the work yourself for a small fraction of that cost.
Oh you want an honest opinion? Sell the 80 and buy a Honda Fit. In a year you'll have covered the cost of the car & more through gas mileage & maintenance costs alone. 
Nine dollars. I'll even (begrudgingly) cover the paypal costs.
