Ordering Parts. The rear Coil Spring Seat for doing the Coil Spring conversion. It's part number 48302-35040. Is it just a locating seat. In other words, does it just hold the coil in place, or is it also a bump stop. I know that there is also a bump stop for the Coil spring truck that looks a lot shorter from the picture. I am thinking of getting that instead and fabricating the spring seat using the caster/wheel idea.

Yes but it has air springs that are very progressive. Coils are not. Manufacture will often run longer bump stops with coil springs to add a more progressive nature to the final bit of travel. To me it sure looks like one of this type of things.

I tried the caster wheel method first, but oddly, whenever it got wet outside, they made a bit of creaking noise. Ended up just biting the bullet and getting the isolators. Totally silent now, and glad I spent the money.

Despite "cheaping out" in that one area on my truck - I would recommend the OEM upper spring seat as the best option.

Mine (caster wheel) squeaks as well - But it's not loud, and only noticeable when the windows are down / radio off. I think the metal spring "twisting" as it compresses resonates through the frame (squeaking by the metal on metal contact).

I'm sure it could be mitigated by using a piece of hard poly/plastic (thin cutting board?) on top of the spring..and that could add a little lift as well.

Caster wheels here from Lowes. Harbor freight wheels were to small in diameter. Lowes caster wheels fit much tighter. No squeaks!!

Its not a bump. GX has separate bump stops

Well I tried to order the Upper Mounts from some on line retailer. Despite giving him both my parts numbers he said some crap about how he needed my VIN. Not returnable if wrong. I cancelled the order. The local Toyota wants $80 for each. I am going ghetto and doing it with the caster wheel. But I will also add a sheet of plastic I have under it to mute the noise if any. I will post pictures and let you know how it goes.
