The old - who knows how old rear shocks are finally showing signs of time to replace the both of them.
I would usually slide under the truck and do some measurements but do to a pulled back muscle (don't go climbing with a 20 year old) is making it a bit ruff. Can't find anything that really is related to the FJ45 mostly FJ40. I think there is a difference between the two?
Just need a good number for a Monroe, Gabriel or any with large piston and gas and can order for later.
Stock suspension.
82 Fj45.

Thanks in advance

Yes - the Toyota site shows them available but they are fluid filled not gas (old style specs).
My number shows a 48531-69057 ?
Thanks

Thanks, surprised Toyota parts did not tell me that?

And the supercessions are wrong. In fact a handful of different rear shocks supercede to the same 69059 despite them being different lengths. The 45 rear needs a longer shock than a similar era 40 rear (shocks mount to u-bolt plate not spring perch)

Hi Kurt,
looks as I best wait till my back is fit enough to crawl under the truck while it's jacked up with the shocks off and do some travel measurements for the shocks. Looks as some of the big name shock company's have some good size charts for custom orders.
Still waiting to see about time off to join the herd in Utah soon.......Thanks

Aftermarket options (OME, Bilstein, etc) are no problem, it's the OE where we have come across a roadblock BUT we have some Tokico (same manufacture as OE) coming from Japan that I am hopeful will be a nice fit on the 45LV/LPB.

Thought I would chime in since the part number was never posted. These are the stock rear shocks off of a 1967 FJ45 SWB. The part # is 48531-60050 and are still available from Toyota however the number has been replaced with 48531-69055.

The 48531-69055 also supercedes to the 48531-69059 which is the shock for the rear of a 75-84 40 Series. In this case the lengths look to work as the 69059 is 570mm/340mm

I'm running KYB on my 1980. The 344090 are the rear. The same length compressed, slightly longer extended than the old OEM's I removed. Definitely better than the old shocks as far as ride goes but I don't know how they would compare to the other brands.
KYB shocks (Medium).webp

Amen for this thread.

I’ve got a one ton 45 was original from Oz now I’m the states any shock suggestions? I called bilstein corporate who got me to tech Bilstein tech told me they have nothing domestically for a one Ton 45 and send me to OZ and the guys I called never got back to me.

Thoughts in shock for that trick - it’s loaded and worked a lot.

I'd suggest and Old Man Emu, no reason it satisfy your needs.

@Northbound. I have the OME complete suspension from Kurt and his crew at Cruiser Outfitters under my 78' AUS spec 45 lpb and really like it a lot.

I just need the shocks

I'm sure, don't need all the complete suspension kit. I've got a variety of 40 variants, but this is the only one that I'm having getting shocks for.

@cruiseroutfit what's the cost of front and rear shocks? I'll PM you as well

Approx $400-425 for the Old Man Emu shocks. We also stock the OEM Toyota shocks but they wouldn't be for the same type of uses and loads as the OME.
