I was wondering how you guys relocated the rear backup camera on the GX460. I got the Rigd rear tire carrier and now need to get some visibility when backing up.

Thanks.

I've been looking to do the same for a while now. Rigd sells a kit, but I don't want to run wiring through the entire interior if I don't have to. I've been trying to find a bluetooth camera that would work with my cell phone since I have that mounted in the center console, preferably one that I could wire into the hitch wiring for power. I'm interested in finding out what everyone is doing.

I imagine there are lots out there that use the factory plug. However, I have not been able to find something that is relatively cheap.

I relocated the factory camera onto my swing-out.
Here is my method: Builds - R2M 2013 GX460 Overland Build
Although I do not suggest using USB cable as the wires are too small of gauge and gives a very poor video.
I wound up having to replace with a heavier gauge wire and it works great!
It's easy to remove the factory camera and relocate it. I ran the wiring down and out through the bottom right of the rear door. Then ran it along the tire swing-out and mounted it on the jerry can mount.

Post some pics when you get a chance. I've seen various pics of several tire carrier options and am still just not convinced on which one I'd be happiest with, visually speaking, so would love more pics to peruse.

Has anyone found another solution than the one r2m provided?I just got the Rigd tire carrier also. I confirmed with the manufacturer that the camera relocation kit they sell for 4Runners will not work with the GX460.

I was thinking about getting a license plate backup camera and splicing that into the existing wiring for the OEM camera.
Is there a reason why this would not work? It seems so simple in my head.

I believe it should work. Just check the number of wires used. You may have to fiddle with which wire goes where.
The nice thing about an after market camera is that you'll probably get the backup lines and delineation marks! Wish the factory 2013 came with that.

That's exactly how I ran mines. Disconnected the OEM camera but left it in place (purchased another OEM camera on ebay). used t-tap connectors to splice into the factory wiring and ran the wiring through the inside of the barn door through the loom, down the body. Came up around the hitch and up the tire carrier.

There is a thread over on CL about this, I just recently did it. This is the pinout for the connector that goes to the OEM camera. Black is 6v+, White is 6v-, Red is the cam signal that goes to the oem display. You will need a step up converter to get 12v for most aftermarket cams, or take 12v from somewhere else.

What did you end up doing? Can you link to the thread in CL?

I'm not sure if that is allowed but the thread is called "Rear camera grid lines 2010-13?" I cut off the oem connector and extended the wires to an aftermarket cam that I stuck on the top of the glass on rear door

What did you or @LCPrado end up doing to solve this? I’m in the same boat. Or will be soonish. Thanks.
