Rumor is that toyota has finally fixed the issue for the next update....... but yeah that is a neat option. I also like the dana 60 option.. .
Agree, I would think the Dana 60 would be the better route for multiple reasons. I don't know how plentiful they are, used, in Australia though. Stateside you can pick up a D60 to chop up for a few bucks at the junk yard. If I start snapping axles/rings/studs, that's my plan (D60 front, 14 bolt rear).

The dana 60 option also gives an increase in GVM. I think off memory it cost 11k the whole thing fitted.
Wheel spacers. They are illegal in Australia thus the common options of replacement housings or the housing spacers at the end of the housing along w/longer shafts. In the US wheel spacers are perfectly acceptable solutions imo.

But every man and his dog run wheel spacers. The other thing people do is get different offset rims for the rear. I hate that idea tbh though, can't rotate tires that way.
Thats because cops don't like crawling under a vehicle to look and most wouldn't know what they are looking for.

Probably, i personally haven't heard of it but it wouldn't surprise me. Americans get away with blue murder compared to us when it comes to road law enforcement. I was pulled over in my 40 for having tires that stuck out the guards by 10 - 15mm and was very lucky to get away with a caution. Could have defected me on the spot.
Now that I think of it, I believe it was mentioned on a Ronny Dahl video so it may only be a WA thing.
What do the cops do in the eastern states when they pull you over and you have bald tyres or a hole in your exhaust?
In WA they are fairly lenient, work orders are usually handed out when the vehicle has 3 minor defects or a single serious defect. There can also be a fine for each defect. Being polite and keeping your mouth shut does wonders
But in WA there is no yearly inspections, so vehicles are often driven for decades without an inspection. The reason the govt has never made inspections compulsory here is that statistically, local vehicles are not found to be any more defective than other states when accidents occur.
The overwhelming reason for accidents are speed, alcohol and sleepy drivers. A broken tail light is unlikely to kill someone.
