Use it everyday in the south, the more air the better. Black cars suck.

^^ Truth

We set on auto at low temp and turn on from dash when our kid is back there - the rear air in this truck blows my wife's Acura out of the water - legit?

Second the use for dogs. My pup gets a bit worked up when riding in the car, and it really helps him if he has plenty of cold air blowing on him.

I leave the temperature set on 70, but rarely turn the air on. If it is warm out and the dog is riding along I'll turn it on, or if the temperature is around the century mark (helps cool the interior down). Otherwise, the rear air stays off.

As cold as it gets, normally never run it unless I have passengers in the summer, rear a/c is pretty sweet, came in handy in Big Bend over spring break. :steer:

Only run it when passengers are in the second row seats. Set it 1t 72 and auto and shazam! We're on the go.

I have it set at 70/auto and it is always on. Helps cool down the truck, and the pup likes it. I live in a swamp....it is hot.

In the summer it's always on for me, unless my kids get cold on longer drives. Normally though it's so dang hot and the interior space is large enough that front and rear on full cold won't cool off the whole car on my usual drives (under 30 minutes).

Seldom use it, but do when I bring the dog. The front A/C does a great job of keeping the front & 2nd row cool.

Just found out today that my rear is not blowing cold at all, but the front is FROSTY. :(

So if no one is in the back you leave it off?

Yes. BUT, haven't had it during a Central Texas summer so all bets point to leaving on all the time. The pig barely gets 11 MPG so what's it matter if MPG goes down to the 10s?

I noticed when I run the rear AC, it blows hot air out of the vents behind the center console onto the floor of the second row. Anyone else have this issue?

I use the rear air when it's hot and I have the kids in the 2nd row, or if I happen to be carrying sensitive cargo in the back (aka, cooler full of ice cold beer:D).
I usually just leave it on the coldest setting on high. Turn it on/off as needed.

Rear heat only comes out of the center console, rear AC only comes out of the overhead vents. Check rear HVAC controls for air distribution (upper/mix/lower/auto) and temp settings.

OP: we have been leaving set at 70-75, Auto and on all the time. We're in AZ...so cool is good. I also understand its good to keep the refrigerant circulating to keep seals etc lub'ed. All that said....but:

Just found out today that my rear is not blowing cold at all, but the front is FROSTY. :(

Me too, me too. Any leads? Our front AC is very cold, but the rear top vents above 3rd row blows warm. I felt the refrigerant lines under the passenger side bumper and they were warm. I checked the FSM and the high pressure line (skinny one) runs to the front of the car to a manifold before it connects to the condenser. I am not sure there if there is an active switch/valve at the manifold, but the suction line (fat one) is always connected to the compressor and the front system. Since my front AC is cold and the rear is warm I am guessing that the refrigerant is just to not making it to the rear evaporator. Possibly the magnetic expansion valve at the back? Will check that with a meter as best I can. Perhaps my rear cabin temp sensor is not working, but in rear auto the blower is working hard and does adjust speed as the front cools the rest of the car - I surmise.

Does rear A/C (cold air) come out of the third row and second row vents, or just third row. Does second row cool come from the front? Second row vents are above the rear doors.

FSM is 2004. Our LX 470 is 2001. (and black! :))
