I rhino'd the bottome half of mine for the same reason. After hours of body work (I didn't chop my panels, but should have) I couldn't get it straight - so screw it. Bought the herculiner and sprayed it in my driveway. Easy to do. And only cost me $140, and that includes all the supplies and the undercarriage gun.

I used 1/8' plate when I did my Q' chop, It was nice after it was painted because you could not tell it was thicker metal...after 3 years of trail abuse it was the only straight part of the truck...

i want the marlin high steer. tryi8n to save best i can! got it to where its at now in less than a year
i plan on having it SOA, 30 spl longs, a front locker, and 37's before the 2 year mark....

Id just much rather be welding my bumper than on sheet metal...
Im finding that I have less patience with body work than I do the other mods!
And yes, it is sort of a disclaimer so that if it comes out looking like s***, I can say I ment to do that!

I saw that you used 1/8 in plate when you did the write up on it...
I got the 18 gauge pretty cheap, and its working out pretty well.
Its thick enough to where Im not constantly burning through, and thin enough to where I can still bend and shape with relative ease...
That was the general concesus, so that is what I went with.
The DS is gonna be a bit of a trick, cuz the corner just under the tail light is a lil smashed up....Dont know HOW THAT HAPPENED!?

Hopefully well get some much needed moisture this year!
But not till after we can hit the trail again!
Its a bummer when you CANT wheel when you want to.
Maybe Ill just start the DS this weekend, so we can run it sooner than later...
Would that be IRRESPONSABLE?

THANK GOD for the liner, cuz it covered the shotty body work I did and made it look like a pro.
I got the Hippo Liner and it worked amazing. I wasnt sure how to go about it, but I mixed it and went to town...I was so anxious to get started that I didnt use gloves...BIG MISTAKE!
I came out nice and even and I didnt even use half of it with 4 coats to the one side!
Here's the pics.
All I have left to do is seal the inside and clean and paint the frame!

Im leaning toward nixin the wood grain...
As much as I hate to do it, the door replacement is killing the whole thing. I cant find the original to match, and I dont wanna spend the cash to replace all of it.
The members of the TLC club will kill me as well as my wife (she like the wood grain too).
Hadnt thought about the valence and trim pieces.

Chicago...I own a sign shop...so let me tell you wood grain is the easiest to do in vinyl. Call Fellars (look on line) and order a 15 or 24" roll of wood grain vinyl and slap it on...n oneed to have anyone cut it for you...just take an exacto to it after its applied. If fellars won;t sell it to you..have a local sign shop order it for you and you are set.
Looks like you did a great job on the chop, tahts on my to do list along with a few other body fixes. (I feel ya on the door replacement, I have 3 of the 4 but have a cool 4 tone pattern down the side of my truck. I am gunna miss it!!

Im just concerned with matching it all up.
I like the wood, dont get me wrong, im just wondering if its worth the hassle!
Anyone else have any opinions on the wood grain?

As far as the chop...Im pretty happy with how it came out, and it was relatively easy all in all. It does take a LOT of passes with the welder to get it sealed.
If it wasnt for the liner, it wouldnt have looked so good. It hid a lot of imperfections!

Np problem, I can tell you with our club that alot of them do not like the wood grain. (There has been a 62 spotted in our area with wood grain.)
I like it, 2nd only to my trucks pattern that I am not sure how I can replace/redo without some serious work.
One of my fav pics, me getting a rover unstuck. And it shows my patern on the side well.
On the bedliner stuff you used, is it tintable? I dont think I want to use black on my truck. (I know Matt in the 45's section used some on his LV that was tintable to coat the bottom of his truck and wheel wells. But I think the gun was expensive in itself.

Yeah, that decal would be a TOUGH mofo to find! Even worse than the woody.
Nice looking rig too and a CLASSIC shot of the recovery. Often when I say I have a landcruser, most people will respond with..."Oh, I love land ROVERS..." I guess its an easy mistake for the lay person to make...
The liner I got DID have a tintable mix!
Im not sure what the difference was from one company to the next (Im assuming not much), but I do recall him pointing out the tint stuff to me!
It was 80 bucks for the kit, and as I mentioned, I didnt even use half of it for what I did, in fact, I added extra coats just to use up what I mixed which also included the rear wheel wells.
I used the roller for my application, and a brush for the tight spots.
