I recently bought two late-model doors from BKFJ40 here on Mud, and I need to replace the latch on the passenger's side, seems it wore out over the years. anybody have a system for disassembling these doors?
From what I can see, I have to take out the window glass, remove the track in front of the latch body, and then undo the screws holding the mechanisim itself in. If anybody has suggestions, especially on the getting the window out part, I'd be much obliged.

It is pretty strait-forward, and you will find that is it not as difficult as it seems. I have not ever took pictures of the doors when I have had them apart to replace window seals or other items, but it is not that big of a deal.

Poser is right, I just took mine apart and it is straight forward, just take pics as you take something off and youll know exactly how it goes back on. not bad at all, just go for it!

I am not talented at stuff like this and It wasnt that hard for me. there are parts that are a pain in the ass though. The lock cylinder was and still is hard to get back in on my doors after they were painted and the glass can be challenging.

you just gotta get in there and take it apart, like said before, not as hard as you are making it. if you need take pics as you break it down so you know where things go, but i bet you wont even need that

I wrote on a piece of paper the steps when I dessable my door past winter to be sure I will know how to built it again !

Undo the hinges
remove trim on each side of the window (and door)
remove weatherstrip
remove the inside handle and door accessories
remove the panel
remove the handle mechanism
remove the outside handle
remove the lock and mechanism

That is.. this is my way I undo my door

Just remember when you go to put the glass back in leave the 1 foot peice of slider out untill you get the glass rolled in.I find to slide the glass endo down the inside of the door with the front faceing down rolling it up as you get in.Get a piece of weld rod put a hook in the end let the glass slide to the bottm of the door with the weld rod and replace your trim. After the trim is in place pull the window up with the rod and bolt in.That I find is really the hard part of the door which isnt bad at all.

what's the trick for removing the interior door panel and not destroying the plastic tabs or the panel material?
Take the clip off the handle and remove ,remove the two screws on the door handle ,remove the one screw in the locking plate ,pry behind the tabs with a screw driver. They come off quite easily.

Good idea, but I don't have welding rod, will bailing wire work, or is it too flimsy?
