Hi all,

Random thoughts:

I took Alex's advice and called Rick for some goodies for my new '89. Just received the "Toyota 1989 Land Cruiser Repair Manual." (Now I understand . . . lots of step by step drawings. . . maybe I can tackle that next "issue.") A set of gaskets that even my local dealer didn't have. And some nice lug nuts! Rick at Ralph's can't be beat!

My wife had an interesting observation from the UC get together last Saturday night. Just about everyone was wearing some Columbia gear. I asked her what she thought that meant (she being a clothes-hound), and she thought it meant that we like quality things, but that we also liked value. I think that sums up the TLC thing too.

It's slip sliding weather tonight in the mountains (teens, snow, 50 mph winds) and the roads have already glazed over. My wife is on business down at URE for the next couple of days, and she says its the same minus the snow.

My 5 year old felt safe coming home tonight in the 98 TLC, and so did I. I think that sums up my personal addiction to the Cruiser.

Besides, who needs a savings account?

I am getting ready to give ole Rick a call myself tomorrow, need to pick up a few stocking stuffers for myself :D

............ and all I can say is I am jealous of your slip and slide weather up there in the mountains!!! I just checked the observations on top of Mount Mitchell 3 degrees, sustained winds of 50mph gusting to 70mph and a wind chill -55 F, now that is sking weather

That explains it!! I forgot that I was in South Carolina! Or it could have been those Hot Dogs that Mary served up . . . they were mind blowing good!

Yep, it is, and I am guessing that all the ski resorts are making snow tonight for this weekend. The "warm up" in the valleys is going to be 40 - 50 this weekend, so I would imagine it wont get out of the high 30s on the slopes during the day.

By the way, you guys are right (especially '89s Rule), '89's do rule! They sure are fun to drive and provide a larger safety margin than my '82 40.

OK,

I think I see a UC post-Christmas event shaping up from this "Ralph Hayes" thread. I am willing to rename it, if President Marshall will sanction it!

Cruisers and a little skiing after x-mas, that's a good combination! Wives, future wives, girl friends, and little kids might even like that kind of event.

Change of subject- Maybe we should try to organize a Club Ski trip. Looks like a number of us want to go and we all have something that can get us to the slops.. I'm so glad I don't have to find a way to get my Mustang to the ski slops anymore.. :)

yeah this is def. a good idea..... marashall and I have toshed around the idea before, but now that we have interest maybe we will get motivated enough to put something together :D

Ok, I will now join in JP's new thread!!!!:grinpimp:

seems like they do a good job taking care of us for parts. Do they do anything special on new vehicle purchases?

I strongly believe that the folks at RHT will certainly compete with any local (tri-state) dealer. With so many variables involved in negotiating the sale of a vehicle, I don't believe it would be fair to say that they will "beat any price out there". They DO value our relationship with them and, as such, will treat your purchase as "special".

good deal. thanks for the info. Stacy and I spotted a TRD edition at the local dealership. it's pretty nice. A-Trac, locking rear diff, not sure on the color. it was totally black. I swore I would never have another black vehicle. I wonder if it comes in other colors.

Robert Hayes has his FJC that we got to test drive this summer for sale. It only has 2400 miles and is fully loaded. He has it for a pretty good price. Call him and see what he can do for you.

Yeah, and it has never been off road, right Alex?
