Has anyone ever tried to install rack and pinion steering in a 40? Should be an awesome conversion if possible without a frame redesign.

I think you could use a long slip shaft and a few u-joints to get there. But I don't see the benefits of R&P in this application. If you mount the R&P on the axle would it be possible to turn it with a cable type linkage like a motorboat?
When the axle twists going over a bump it will have MASSIVE bump steer with R&P steering.

Why would u want to install rack n pinion steering on a 40?
Like what?I've asked myself the same thing about some of the stuff I've seen on this forum.
Like what?
I'm just asking why man. What benefits do u see from rack n pinion steering? Are you looking to fix some sort of issue you have with how your cruiser steers?I don't really want to step on anyone's toes or start a pi**ing contest so I'm not going into specifics. It's just my opinion about certain things I have seen that I personally would not have done for one reason or another. I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw something and said why.
Is it April 1st already?! Fawk, this year is going by fast...Has anyone ever tried to install rack and pinion steering in a 40? Should be an awesome conversion if possible without a frame redesign.
