So at Interstate yesterday... It became apparent that the only way it will fit is if we extend the already-extended Slee adapter...or add a post adapter to the smaller threaded posts.

The base of the threaded posts have a full-width lead base for full contact...

I am not a battery expert either although I do read the Internet a lot!

Everyone and their brother went out and bought the diehard platinum marine batteries for their hundred series dual battery set up's and when they started dying some folks who sound much smarter than me theorized that the issue was not necessarily with the battery itself but more so with the Land Cruiser's lack of ability to fully charge the marine battery, or the battery not seeing the larger swing in depletion and recharge.

I don't know the right answer, but will sign on to hopefully hear from someone with more knowledge and experience.

Not to thread jack but I’ve issues with 2 Die Hard Platinums in 2 different vehicles. Both vehicles (an FJ and 100 Series) were using National Luna Split charging systems. No matter what I did the DH battery wouldn’t hold a charge very long. I’m looking replacing the batteries with something else.

I cannot answer the original question about marine batteries. I will say that I have 6-7 DEKA AGM batteries in service and they have been rock solid. As for the fancy terminals. I have used them with Braille and lithium batteries in sports cars. If it can come loose, it will come loose. I no longer use them and reduce the number of contact points to the minimum.

As I've posted elsewhere, my experience with the DieHard Platinum AGM is they die easy. I've got 5 sitting in the garage right now to go to recycling that died in my solar energy backup electrical system. I think they sulfate very easily. I'm using Duracell, Interstate, and Fullriver batteries.

Thanks for the reply. I’m going to pick up a Duracell or Interstate AGM battery tomorrow.

For what it’s worth, I’ve personnay seen 6 National Luna split chargers fail from vibration. Have you checked the voltage output of the NL?

That’s one of the first things I checked.

If trying a different brand battery doesn’t work, I’m trying a different system.

Figured you did, just wanted to offer it.

What was the voltage out put? Because AGMs do take about .4 volts more to charge than lead acid, which is why AGMs don’t fully charge and don’t last as long in factory systems that still have a lead acid charge profile.

The best battery you can buy is Northstar. Those are the only battery I’ve found that are made from pure lead. All other AGMs are made from recycled lead.

Scrap the NL setup and go with a CTEK 250S it boosts the charge to the necessary 14.4 volts and for 1/2 the price too

Redarc BCBC also does and has a built in MPPT solar controller. It's my power-system next buy

Intriguing. I see some of their chargers work with LiFePO4 batteries too. Those batteries have caught my eye because of their lightweight and extremely deep discharge capability. Which Redarc model are you considering?

...I always keep an AntiGravity XP10 AND a second backup jumper pack in the drawers at all times just in case (also keep old fashion jumper cables).
This is *exactly* the same thing I do...in the same cubby! That way, if the LC is parked at the airport for a couple weeks and it turns up dead, I’m set.

Copy that

My stock Panasonic battery in my 570 just went bad, made it almost three years. I replaced it with a X2 power premium from Batteries +. Unlike all the other available batteries this one has a 60 month warranty. They give you 10% off for ordering online and there is currently a $30 rebate too.

I didn’t weigh this battery but carrying it, it is significantly heavier than the battery it replaced.

Dual setup is on my long term radar, but I haven’t done all the research on it yet. I am just hoping to get the promised 5 years out of this battery.

The lithiums are pretty fantastic in every way except for price. The ability to discharge as low as 80%-90% is very tempting though.

I'll be purchasing the BCDC1225D as it can be used in conjunction with my SBI12.

I’ve gotten to play with one recently, they are incredibly built. I mounted it in front of the radiator to keep clear of engine temperatures, but since it’s fully sealed, water and junk won’t bother it. The only thing better in my opinion is the Manager 30, which will be the holy grail in the US once RedArc finishes up their 120v version.

I’d buy one in a second if I had a need for a second battery, but all I have is a 50qt fridge and a winch.

A 120v (or 120v/240v) Manager 30 would be the cat pajamas. My GoPower unit has similar functions and has an inverter built in but the unit itself is enormous (made for RVs) and it doesn't have nearly the monitoring and charge profile features, nor does it have an MPPT controller. Monitoring is the big one.

Hey guys, my 200's battery died on Sunday and been letting her sit while I figure out what to do next.

Ordered the Slee primary tray replacement that allows for Group 31 fitment, should arrive tomorrow.

Called Interstate's distribution center in the East Valley of Phoenix and they only have the 31M-AGM in stock; 31P-AGM7 is currently out of stock.

From markuson's post, quoted above, it seems that the 31M won't fit too well and I should just wait for the 31P.

Then I saw Taco2Cruiser's post on Northstar, also above. The NSB-AGM31 is *slightly* smaller all around than the 31P, so theoretically should fit in Slee's tray. Would the Northstar be a recommended alternative to the Interstate?

Was there ever a definitive conclusion about running AGMs in the primary location on a factory electrical system? All else is stock, but plans in the future to add lights, winch, ham, etc. So, figure might as well upgrade the battery now.

Or is that a premature decision due to the Phoenix heat and factory "fast" charging leading to the AGM battery dying after only a couple years on me and wasting $$? These AGMs ain't cheap...

Advice welcome.

Btw, for fun, I had put together this image comparing the 31P to the 31M and then offering a view of Slee's installation of the 31P w/ the terminal extensions. You can see what markuson was talking about...
