Question of what I need to do on my new 80

Thanks Jynx, I got up with Sam and will get everything ordered this week.

Ordered my OME lift today from Cruiser Outfitters, going to ship out next week when they get another set of springs in. Wound up getting 2.5" heavy up front and medium for the rear since it may be a while before I get my rear bumper. I'm looking for a set of 1.5" wheel spacers if anyone has some they want to sell. If I don't find a used set in a week or so, going to order a new set from Slee or Trail-Gear. Now time to start thinking about tires

Anyone running a Smittybilt winch? I found some on ebay that seem to be a really good price. Also, is 9500 lbs enough or should i go with a 12,000 lb? I don't think I'll need one that often but I want to make sure it will work when I need it. Also, what else will I need to mount one of these to my ARB winch bull bar? Here's a link to the 2 I'm looking at.

New Improved Smittybilt XRC 12 Gen 2 Winch 12K Waterproof Remote 97412

,,w X2O 10K GEN2 Wireless remote Winch Smittybilt 10,000 lb waterproof 97510

Smitty built is a good winch, built at the same plant in China as bad lands and a few others but still a good winch popular, on an 80 I'd go with the 12k. Jmtc.

I have a XRC12 on my 80. Check Amazon for them if you have Prime. I got mine delivered to the door for $299 a couple years ago. To make it fit in the ARB you will need a couple of spacers to get the reduction end away from the bumper.

Here is my install: Getting ready mount my XRC12 in the ARB, couple questions...

Do yourself a favor and figure on the WARN fairlead. The ARB is designed around it and most others won't fit without some modifications.

Is anyone running General Grabber AT2's? I think an AT tire will fit my needs instead of a MT and they have about the same tread pattern at the BFG KO2 and a lot better price.

Got a package in the mail today :)

I've got another question for you guys about my 80. I could post on the main page but I feel like a get better advice from you guys. Okay so I'm getting 9 MPG around town and I'm afraid when I put my lift and 35" tires on, it's going to get worse, I can see at current condition I may be getting 6 or 7 MPG with the added weight. I'm also having the starting issue after it warms up. It fires but it turns over a dozen time before it gets the gas in and it fires up. So far I've done a full tune-up with OEM parts, OEM fuel filter, replaced the idle control valve, pulled the pump out of the tank and cleaned the sock filter, set the timing............you name it, we've done it. Basically everything except the fuel injectors. Do you think my problems could be caused by one or more bad fuel injectors? I was thinking about taking them out and sending to Witchhunter or RC Engineering. I would like to know what you guys think and have you ever used one of the fuel injector service companies? I'm almost there, just one more bug to work out. After I get this figured out, my 80 should be ready to roll for a long time, Lord knows I've spent a lot of time and money getting it there. I also need to change the valve cover gasket so I guess it would be a good time to do that also. Believe it or not, I'm down to one little drip of oil and it's coming from the valve cover. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

I finally got to take the 80 out this afternoon after the lift and new 315 tires. I was really concerned about the bigger tires and extra weight with the factory gearing but I think I'm going to be fine. She runs like a champ and seems to have plenty of power. I'm probably going to add sliders and a rear bumper soon so I may have to look into re-gearing after that but I'm happy right now.

Tomorrow will be a week since I dropped my 80 off in Maryville and I miss driving it, even if it's just a couple days a week. Supposed to be ready next week if everything goes well with the bumper and swing outs. I'm a little concerned that I may need to bump my rear springs up to heavies once I get the extra weight on so I may have a couple brand new OME rear springs for sale in a few weeks.

I got a couple pics of the roof rack tonight, think I'm going to like it. Sliders are done and parts are cut out for the bumper, looking forward to more pics when he get the bumper welded up.

Sorry for the quality, it's all I have so far.

Lee, I will let you know. I'm pretty sure I will need to upgrade but I'm going to hit a few trails in a couple weeks over in Cocke Co and see how she does. I will let you know first. Thanks

I picked my 80 up this evening so it was too dark to grab some pics but this was a couple nights ago while it was still being worked on. This was also before it was painted. Going to have my spare mounted tomorrow also, this is one he took just to make sure everything fit. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. The Jerry can box will hold 3 cans or a 35 quart Yeti. I sent my 45 qt with the cruiser but the box was way too big so he cut it down.

Did he keep his measurements so he can build one for me? Is the hitch sturdy enough to pull a trailer?

I'm pretty sure he has everything to build another one. Hitch seems very sturdy but just got it back today so not tried it. We used struts for the swing outs but they're not going to work out. Joe ordered spring pins today and is going to weld those on next week, pretty sure they will work a lot better.

Got her all cleaned up today, now I need to go get it dirty

Thanks Jason, much appreciated. I do have another question for you guys. With the bigger tires and extra weight, I think it's time to start thinking about re-gearing to 4.88. I feel like I've lost a lot of power and tranny is down shifting a lot on the road. Who around the Knoxville area would be good to do my gears? We have an off-road shop here in Morristown, just don't know how good they are at doing something like gears.

I'd like to hear some responses on this also. If I ever win the lottery, I'd like 35s and 4.88s. It looks like Cruiser Outfitters will do it for about $650 per differential + core charges + locker (if wanted). There is also ZUK's (Toyota Gear Installs). I think he is good, but I don't know the cost.
