I didn't want to clog the chit chat thread up with questions so thought I would start a new thread. As some of you know I have been looking for an 80 for several months now and I finally got one yesterday. It's a 93 model, red pearl, with lockers. I knew when I bought it, it was slinging grease from the passenger side front axle so I know I will have to have the axles serviced. Even though it's just the passenger side, I thought I would go ahead and get them both serviced. It has 170,000 miles on it and I would bet they've never been done. The guy I bought it from had it for 4 years and just drove it and nothing else. The 2nd owner had it from 20,000 miles to 145,000 miles and looks like he kept the service up on it but he used it pretty hard. With my job I barely have time to mow my own grass so I'm going to let someone do the work. Fortunately I know a guy that is a long time service tech at Toyota and he's going to work on it for me at his house in the afternoons. I was also going to do the PHH, flush and change all the fluids, and a tune up. Would you guys give me some suggestions of what else I need to do? I'm looking for things that tend to wear out that is probably in need of attention. Right now I just want to get it in good driving condition and then I'll start on a few mods later on. I feel like I got a good enough deal on it, that I can spend some money on it and not feel like I'm putting too much in it. The plan is to keep it because 80's are getting way too hard to find.
I'd tell you what I paid for it but you wouldn't believe me
