I put the upper and lower races in backwards when doing a knuckle rebuild. I don't see any way to get them out. Any ideas????

Brass drift. Hit them from the opposite side. Not sure if it'll work with the bevel side inward but...

that's the problem. with them in backwards, there isn't a lip to put the drift on. It sits flush so there's nothing to grab.

Maybe a seal puller modified onto a slide hammer

Or mangle the race with a dremel to give it some edge for your drift to bite into. Then get some new bearings :(

BTDT. Yes , there is a very small lip to get traction on. You need a sacrificial punch or screwdriver to gently tap it out with. Kinda slow and tedious, but it can be done. John

I went the dremmel tool route. Bought the tungsten bit for hardened steel. It cut into the race no problem, then used a cold chisel to punch them out. Ruined the races but at least we were able to finish the job!

Thanks for your help. I thought I was going to have to call a flatbed and have it taken to a shop to get cut out!

Could of dropped a socket and extension in there and tapped it out? Base of socket could rest mid-point on the race.

A very simple and FAST way to remove that race is to weld a small 1/2" or 3/4" long bead on the bearing surface face. Once the weld cools the race will contract enough that it will now be smaller then the bore and will just fall out. Try it, it works every time, we used this trick in the machine shop to remove tapered bearing shells races from blind bores in machines. One word of caution, make sure you use a Mig or Tig welder to run the bead, you get to much splatter from stick welders.

^ Now that is a cool trick.
