Not intending to be a debbie downer here, but given the preponderance of hub-centric aftermarket wheels avail requiring zilch post-purchase or third-party modification - unless ya REALLY love the look/specs - I see little reason to go with a set that does.
Not that these are $5K per corner forged BBS motorsport wheels, but you'd effectively be giving up your factory wheel warranty and any compliance certs assuming these wallet-friendly made in Chinas hold them in the first place. 99.9% of buyers don't seem to know or care about load rating.
I hear you but its really not a big deal. A minor alteration at best. There are few to zero beadlock options out there that dont look horrible or carry a huge price tag. Putting your eyes and hands on the wheel to see what is modified will appease even the debbiest of downers.
I recently bought and installed these on my 6m1 80. 17x9 0 offset. Tires are 315/70R17. I can post a pic when I get home if someone would like to see them.

In all honesty, if I knew these wheels needed clearancing when I bought them, I probably would have chose a different wheel. No one was running these on an 80, just Tacos and T4Rs when I bought mine and I did as much research as I could. Turned out they didn’t fit direct so I had to clearance them. I knew of and heard of many people doing this to fit other brand wheels in the past so never thought of it as a potential failure point. I personally love the look of them and that’s why I chose them. So far 30k miles on them and a good amount of dirt in those miles and no problems. I do wish I had the rock ring as theyve gotten pretty hammered at this point haha. Ymmv
WedsSport TC105X WRV 18x9 0 offset(1.5" Spacer)
Toyo Open Country MT 38x13.5R18
At a charity event couple weekends back everyone was saying 38's look so much bigger than 37's. I think they look just right on an 80 especially with JDM wheels.
The WedsSport weigh in at 24lbs while not being true forged like Volk TE's(21lbs for 18's). These are even lighter than some true forged American offerings like the KMC forged Mesa wheels that are 17". Forged Wilwood calipers and 14" 2pc rotors with aluminum hats are also significantly lighter than stock. Not that the weight savings make up for all of the extra weight with bigger tires...
No. The factory wheels are 16x8 0 offset. So there is no change in rim or tire position on the axle. It’s just that a 315/35” tire technically should have at least a 9” wide rim.
I won’t clog the thread up with spring stuff, it’s all in another thread. So uh here’s my wheels/ tires. F5s with 3.5” of back spacing with 37 ridge grapplers. 1jzhilux told me to gut the fenders, so I did
