So Buzzard Gulch did not return my e-mail, so I called them. They told me they don't buy them direct, they buy them from another company; Northcentral.

I called Northcentral at 785-454-3409 and they were very helpful. he is sending me out a whole new set of gaskets and seals to try and asked me to check if it is leaking while its running anywehere

I thought I would post the number so others knew who to cantact for Technical service on these compressors bought from Buzzard Gulch

Ken, thanks for that heads up. I'll have to hook mine up temporarily as soon as I can to make sure mine is working right.

Man these things are HUGE! Much bigger than I expected. I purchased one for $205 delivered using an Ebay 10% coupon I had. I was planning to divorce the pump from the tank and mount each half, behind my Combo bar fog lights. I'm not sure if that's going to happen though. Thanks for the thread!
 
This compressor is a beast! less then a minute per 35" tire from 25 psi to 40 psi. Then did my buddies 33" tires. It got hot, but performed great.

They sent me a metal gasket to replace a non metal one on the top of the head, when I took the head off I noticed they should have sent me a second gasket as there are two in the assembly on either side of a metal plate. The bottom paper style gasket appeared to be torn, but also could have been from me taking the head off

I used the make your own gasket stuff to replace the one they did not give me, gave it an hour to cure it. It now works much better. I didn't time it, but the tank filled up quickly and it shut off in under 2 minutes.

If your having problems you could just use the make a gasket stiff or FPIG and not bother getting the part from Northern tool
 
This thread is started over in the Expedition thread...and it will help me alot. I'd like to mount my Puma without the tank in the front corner of the truck when I pull the front fascia off to mount the BudBuilt winch plate and winch. It should allow me enough room to stub out a brass coupler to hook an airline to.

It's a great idea..just lose the tank and run it direct...the problem is, figuring out the wiring is not my strong suit.

Any advice on the actual wiring would be a big help..thanks in advance.

KM2's. I like to run 50 for regular street driving.

Puma side of things...still working great. Used it a lot this summer blowing up inflatable boats 'n stuff for the kids.
 
I ordered this unit last night (eBay seller) after my bottle ran dry on the 3rd tire during air up yesterday. :doh:
No more guessing 'how much is left' for me.

Looking to mount on the Driver rear fender plastic and tie into the factory shopping bag mounts(FJ Cruiser).
 
Nice! You will be happy with it. I am with mine.

As soon as I get my truck back from the 100k pm. I will finish extending the lines and wire mine up. Have to get it done before my camping trip to the Grand Canyon and ABQ NM.
 
I just bought one and it should be here tomorrow. Some questions for those who have permanently mounted these for on board air. How many separate the compressor from the tank? Did anyone install a check valve or air water separator?
 
I separated the tank and compressor. Mounted the tank behind the drivers side fog light, the compressor behind the passengers side and used the factory controls with check valve and head unloader. I didn't bother with the air / water separator as I do not plan to run air tools. I had to have a new bung welded on the tank for the water drain and fab lines between the pump, controls and compressor.

Off topic: So, you will post them in a couple months? This post is on page 6 for me with the way I have my settings. It really is more useful to give a post number rather than a page number since pagination can be customized.

On topic: I keep lusting after a Puma or similar setup, but the funds aren't available now. I don't have anything currently for trail air and need to get something, so I will probably end up with a Viair 400 or MV50 as a stop-gap, but that doesn't make sense in the long run.

What type of air hose and fittings are you guys running? Mostly for a quick disconnect to run air tools or air up tires. Does anyone happen to know what size hose the ARB air lockers come with?

3/8" BSPT

I had to get an adapter to 3/8" NPT.

I was unable to find an elbow that was 3/8 BSPT(M) to 3/8" NPT (M or F)

I did find that Rotarex of Germany at its US location has a street elbow of that configuration, but won't sell in lots of less than 50.

I have a request: I'm looking for different ways to mount my solenoids, for both ARB lockers, on the Puma. I'm going to use aftermarket solenoids and not sure how to go about plumbing them.

I would also like to have a disconnect for an air line, but confused about where the regulator fits in. Do I need two regulators, one for the ARBs and one for the air line ( different pressures ).

Well, here's how I did this. I'm running both ARB air lockers and an OBA fitting. Both solenoids and the air chuck, will be regulated the same.

Anybody see something amiss with this setup. The only thing I see, is maybe a bracket to hold the nipple going to the two ARB solenoids?
