I know you prolly saw the title and thought wth ? . I have been reading old posts like a mo fo, I am looking for which proportioning valve a guy should buy that would be best for my application. Stock booster/ mc 75 fj40 77 disk fronts but am waiting and gathering parts and pieces for rear disk swap. I checked out summit racings page and there is a multitude of proportioning valves , Which one thanx Neil.

I used wilwood cause it's the same brand of brakes I chose to use.

I was wondering more if some came threaded metric or are they standard ? Does it come with the fitting's and then you have to do the flaring ? Thanx Neil

There was a thread some time back with the discussion of metric vs SAE. There were part numbers posted of metric-threaded versions. I don't have time to google it for you just now. Add "site:ih8mud.com" to the end of your google search.

Mine was sae- 1/8"x27npt. I also used swagelok fittings to the hard lines. (3/16"x 1/8")

Can I ask where you sourced the adapters thanx . Neil

Thank you.

I went with Wilwood because they are at all 4 corners. For fittings I simply purchased the SAE fittings to match the valve and cut the brake line where I wanted the valve and slide on the SAE fittings before flaring the lines. No adapters necessary.

I have the Wilwood proportioning valve as well - used fittings to adapt the NPT to AN, and AN to 10mm Toyota - fittings came from Earl's

Wilwood as well, did the same thing as DSRTRDR

I did this too, super easy solution. I think there is a part number lurking in a thread somewhere, but it's easy to work out from the swagelok website too.

I used Wilwood also.

Sent from the islands.

you need it if you want the front brakes to lock up before the rear brakes do - the advantage is safer braking

I too have the Wilwood proportioning valve. I adapted the NPT to AN, and AN to 10mm Toyota. The adapters came from Summit.

Proportioning valves reduce the pressure to the rear brake circuit to balance the braking force front to back to reduce rear wheel lockup. If your setup works with out one (or with a factory non-adjustable one) then don't change it. If your rear brakes lock with all but the most gadual stops, then you NEED one. The skidding axle will always try to lead, and if that's the rear one, you'll be doing 180s if you try stopping quickly.... And trust me that's not a lot of fun... Even if a 40 is short enough to keep mostly in one lane.
