Pretty well.

I got waylaid on my way home, so I didn't get any prep work done, so mostly we just got all the junk out of the tub and the front sheetmetal off, the compression check done, and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff disconnected.

Today I got it all ready to pull the tub, but found a lot of rust in the rear sill, enough that one of the bolts is going to require a dose of either the plasma cutter or the sawzall. Either way, tomorrow morning: it's a dead bolt.

I'll post pics and stuff of today's progress in an hour or so (after dinner).

Jon: a PO did put in an electric fuel pump. They also cut the metal gas line, and ran a single rubber line (with the plastic filter and pump in line on the frame rail). It was a pretty ugly job IMHO. I think I saw some speaker wire going to the pump, and I for certain wouldn't trust the wire splices they put in there next to a gas line.

I'll put the metal line back in, and put in Viton flexible lines for biodiesel compatibility.

Dang. When we left I was disappointed we didn't get more done. But looking at the list, I don't feel so bad.

I could hear the pump when we did the compression test.

Anybody have an extra outside driver's side door handle for a '78 or so 40? I can hunt one down as a replacement, but need one today - going out of town.

Dang. Too late probably.

I've got one I'm 99% sure.

But I'm also heading out of town tomorrow. You're welcome to it on the evening of the 1st, or on the 2nd though. It's definitely too cold for me to worry about it tonight. :flamingo:

I goobered it all up with epoxy, so it might work for now. Might talk to you after the first of the year...

get plenty of wd40 in the latch mechanism. it will help keep it functional and easier to open. i just had to do that myself.

Did that. Unfortunately somebody tried to force it and broke the handle where it connects to the arm that pulls down on the rocker thingy.
