Thanks. The bows were just a “right place right time” scenario locally.
Nice! Lucky SOG. Same with the top?
I doubt if I get that lucky ,, although I did find an oem pto winch locally, so you never know

I plan on purchasing the B pillars from real steel cruiser parts. Not sure about the top though.

The top I purchased from TROA. I know there’s a few threads with folks discussing aftermarket soft tops with real steel bows. The bows I got were ridden hard and put away wet, but at least matched the color and patina of the 40.

The FST that you bought from TROA, is it beige? I was looking on their site … the beige look more blueish grey tint. Is that just a computer picture issue, or is that what you are seeing with yours?

Nope, totally beige, no tint. As @Chungas Revenge said, check out that other thread.

It’s the little things, installed some 3D printed spacers for the drivers and passenger side door handles. The holes have elongated over time and the door handles rattle around. These totally fixed the issue, just added some lithium grease to make sure they were smooth operating.

Thanks @FJ40Savvy ! 1973 FJ40 club. 😂

Installed a CI TROA Soft Top today. 4 weeks from eBay order to custom build to arriving at my doorstep from Columbia. Fit and finish was good out of the box, really impressed after install. Still need to do the twist locks on the side.

I just picked up a beige TROA Top off eBay yesterday for cheap. I am curious as to the eyelets and fasteners that are installed on the top, if any. Has anyone looked into the rare earth magnet FST method that Julie uses on her tops? If anyone has pictures or references to what she uses on her tops … could you share the link, it would be much appreciated. I am avoiding drilling any more holes in my rig then is necessary.

Finally replaced the old CB antenna mount that had long since disintegrated and left a hole in the rear fender. Looking at getting a fire stick, thanks @Flatlanderfj40 for the tips. More to patch the hole, form over function. 😂

Been driving a fair bit, but suddenly noticed during downshifts into 2nd coasting down a hill under load, I’d get some backfiring out of the exhaust.

Decided to a valve adjust and pull the plugs. OMG.. the plugs were filthy after about 1500 miles. I think it’s time to finally do the valve stem seals.

I have a set of the Felpro seals in the parts bin. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve been reading the 2F seals are an upgrade to the 1F seals. Might get another set in case I bungle one up on install.

Pulled the rocker assembly to get ready for clean up and replacing the valve seals next week.
