I am going to stay with the original case for now because this will be a combo of dd/weekend wheeler. If I decide to go more hardcore later, then I would probably go Atlas. Thanks for info on your setup. I'm eager to see the difference going from the oem 3spd tranny to the 700r.

Got the drivetrain back in....here's some shots of the crossmembers I built

Since the dana 300 doesn't have a mounting spot for a crossmember I made one that uses 3 of the 5 HD output bolts and then used part of a 1 ton motor mount bushing. The idea is to minimize flex but not necessarily eliminate it since that may make further complications. Just didn't want the entire weight of the TC hangin off of the 4 rear 700r4 bolts on the aluminum housing

yes I did trim the threads sticking way up there just didn't get a picture. I'm not sure what I will do about a fan shroud yet but may "borrow" the idea for the shroud from Man-a-fre as well. I am also gonna put another support bar in but want to get the radiator hoses and stuff in first to make sure there is no conflict
I also started the TBI wiring.....
Oh and I got the walker y pipe on but still have to burn in a O2 sensor "Bunhole":p

Your project looks like it's comming right along there! Good build up,thats the way to do it.Here is my recession build-up with your old F motor! Got a new radiator(4-core HD from rad.barn)that I am going to put in this week.I took off your old power steering pump for now,do you remember what setup you had with that before.Would be nice to have P/S,but for now I am going old school manual.
Just really want to get it up and running soon.

You took off my ghettofabulous PS mount?:D It was just really a quick fix to be able to mount the pump since I had the box on but knew I'd be going v8 soon. I used a GM 4 turn box (68 Impala application), four bolt mounted where your small manual box is now. I got my frame plate kit, box mount and steering linkage from 4x4 labs and it made it very simple.

I am trully glad that motor gets to see use again rather than collecting dust.....

Yes that was what I wanted to know about the "gettofabulous" setup. That pump was a good setup, with some custom little brackets. It's just that I could not mount my stock air cleaner &bracket there where you had it.
I thought the engine was a good deal for a 12-pack of good beer! Now I just need to get it running!
Thanks,John

You bought the engine for a 12 pack? Gosh! I would have given 13 beers!:flipoff2:

95% sure it will have to be 2 piece. The pumpkin is in nearly the same location as a stock LC pumpkin and lookin at Woody and Isotel's builds they both had to run two piece b/c of the 700r4. But with the 2 piece hopefully I can run a little bit bigger shafts and a bomber support bearing. I saw a writeup on pirate talking about a support bearing that pivots kinda like a heim joint to help eliminate wear.

I forgot to give you the stock air cleaner....it's still sitting in the garage.....I'm not much of a drinker and finished the rest of the beer a couple weeks ago, thanks again. I'm afraid that if I make it a habit to drink while wrenching I might start to understand things a little easier, ideas will come faster, and my stuff will start to look decent and we definately can't have any of that. What will I do with myself if I actually complete the project? No it's sober wrenching for me from here on out

Just been doing little things lately. I had to cut part of my floorpan out to accomodate the clocked t-case to get a flat belly but my fuel tank is also an underseat kind. I ordered a new fuel cell form Australia for this application that goes under both the passenger seats and driver seat making the fuel capacity 28 gallons rather than the stock 13 gallons.

I got a little happy cuttin the floor so I patched that back up and you can see how much of the tranny hump I cut
