Seems like every time I get some momentum going on this project, something goes wrong. Argh.

Got back from the funeral, my eye was killing me. Started the day before I left. Progressivly worse everyday for a week. Thought I had a bad infection. I did. It was infected with FJ55 metal. Apparantly, I managed to get a piece of metal aroung the safety glasses, and lodged in my cornea. Stayed in long enough to start rusting (which, for an FJ55 to start rusting, is not really that long :p)

Officially, "Corneal Foreign Body, removed, with Rust Ring. This sensitive area is very painful when injured. Although the metal particle may have been removed, the salty tears have caused the matal to rust and form a stain in the cornea. Many times itis not possible to completely remove a rust ring on the first visit, and may require an eye specialist for further treatment."

So, I may have a little bit of FJ55 forever in my eye......

And, was advised not to do any grinding/welding/etc until the eye is completely healed......superb.

sucks...when i did that, they "carved" the rust out with an exacto knife looking thing...i don't recommend that either

Well, the ER doctor did not get all of it out. Had two more visits to two different specialist....and more things poked, scraped, gouged, touched, prodded and put in my eye, than I care to remember. It seems to be better finally, and I can see out of it again, and go out in the daylight!

So, if I can see, I can bend metal!

Got repair 1 of 3 on the rear body mount done today.

Before

After

Doctor used tweezers on my Suburban-exhaust-metal-flake-souvenir. (My reward for helping a friend) It was embedded pretty good, so he actually had to tug on it a few times to dislodge it. On the plus side, I got to pretend to be a pirate for the rest of the day :-)

Well...maybe finish was a stretch....I did make 4 pieces of the jigsaw puzzle of the inner rear corner...It was the curved piece that took 3 tries before I got it right.

Flat patch over the inner body mount.

3 pieces to go on next

One more to go, but can't really make it until these 4 are on and done...sigh...

We have hands, will pencil you in.
