Let me clarify, I consider the 200 a poor rock-crawler and you won't find me needing it to serve as one. It's all about the right tool for the right job, your job and subsequent results may vary.

I've run the ARB step/rail combo for 5 years now on my 100, they have taken hits here and there and do have some dings and rash on the tube but they have served their purpose, a step and my rockers are dent free.

To put things in perspective, we drove the E7 Land Cruisers around the globe twice and didn't need sliders and our race 200 has 10k+ race miles in the deserts of the U.S. & Mexico and has completely straight rockers, yet we rip a skid plate off every other race :D. Every job has different requirements, respond as such.

As I figured. Thank you for the feedback.
Actually considering selling the 80 so that I may more easily slide into the realm of 200 ownership when we return to the states.

Good morning from paradise (southern Utah), en route to Overland Expo

Well done! Love your thinking and execution of upgrades!

Kurt:

I always appreciate reading and understanding your thought process. It helps me to clarify my own ideas.

I enjoyed your comment, "I consider the 200 a poor rock crawler". I've got rear bumper scars that prove what you said!

:-)

I had a fantastic weekend with the 200. We did 600 miles from St George, Utah to Moab, Utah predominately in dirt. I'm really loving the ride and handeling and I've exposed some major needs to really set it up as the 100 Series replacement the including comms, rear hatch button/handle and additional interior lighting.

The 2016 200 held its own too despite being 100% stock

Doing some fun side by side comparisons, VDJ200 versus URJ200

you gotta get us an acceleration test !!!

Seat of the pants or results of our rolling drags? :D

3UR wins both BUT I'm certainly lighter than the HEMA truck.

Time to dust off this build. One been in a parts collection mode and frankly haven't made any time to install any of it. I'm still a bit torn in electrical needs. I'm running a lightbar, ARB Intensities and a crappy rear LED flood on my 100. That's covered all my needs and honestly I could take or leave the lightbar as of late. The 100 activates the ARBs with the OE fog switch in the headlight stalk, the lightbar with a dash mounted switch and the rear flood with another dash mounted switch.

I've really been looking as the sPod and switch pro type systems but what would I used them for given my rather low tech needs? If I do lockers it's going to be utilizing an OE switch. The 200 has a headlight stalk fog lamp switch but I'm planning to do upgraded lights in the ARB winchbar. Things like Comms and compressors are not suited/needed to running through a relay bank. So do I just keep it simple and wire stuff up this weekend or get ahead of the game and plan for future electrical needs? I think I just need to quit making excuses and stop being lazy :D

Kurt, Curious - how long you planning on keeping this rig? I've got my eyes on a local 2009 200, but with 123k on it. The price is right, but I'm coming from a 2014 4Runner Trail where my build fizzled out after I started lusting after the 200 series. It's low miles and a lot newer truck. I just can't get over the 200 though.

You're obviously well versed in the LC. Would you do it again? Anything you would have done different?

Well

Well, that is a great question. I'll have it at least 3-4 years. Fwiw I said the same thing about my UZJ100 and still have it :D

I'd absolutely do it again and so far I don't have any regrets but I've also taken my time deciding on components and spent a great deal of time learning via customer builds.

Did you ever do the diff breather relocation? I'd love to read a write up on that. Thanks!

+1 on interest in diff breather write-up.

There are a few of us that have done that one. I've got a picture or two on the Snorkle install thread I did. Easy peasy using ARB kit.

Nope, the diff breather kit is in the box-o-parts. I've installed them on other peoples rigs if that counts :D

I need to nail down which batteries I plan to use and get them ordered.
