TRD wheels and 255/80r17 BFG KM2...

trdwheelsinstalled.jpg

question for at this stage... this is just a 2" lift + the 17" RW's and the shocks correct? or is this stock ride height with the 255-80-17's
any idea if they will fit in the spare tire stock location?
I am really liking this setup as my Stage 1 goal.

There is no lift in the vehicle at that stage. The 255/80r17 KM2 tires will fit in the stock spare location. The KM2 may be discontinued in that size.... Need to double check.

The bumper is designed, even a few parts cut out... But it has gone no further.

Nice build Brian, well thought out

Bump. ;)

I'm moving the 200 back to an 18" wheel in order to increase the brake size.... stay tuned for the larger brake info. After mentioning this to my wife, she only stipulated that if I was going to buy new tires that an increase in size would be nice. The 34" BFG AT KO2 (which only measure 33") always looked a little small. A little searching turned up a smoking deal on some 285/75R18 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 Tires... $191 each. They will arrive this week... now to decide on which OEM wheel.

Great to see some new progress with this project.
Love to see what you come up with.
Can you give some details on the rear locker/ gears set up.

What would you like to know about the locker? It's pretty straight forward, notch the housing, change some of the studs for longer pieces, proper gasket, and slap it in. I still need to wire it, the stock 4WD ECU may be able to control it.

Will the stock axles work?
Correct length, diameter, and splines?

The new tires are considered a 35/11.50R18. Here are the specs for the 285-75R18.

Size LT285/75R18 E 129/126R
Part # 215440
Tread depth 17.0
Diameter 34.84
Overall width 11.26
Rim 7.5-(8.0)-9.5
Max load @ PSI 4080/3750 @ 80
Weight 64.44

I will measure when they arrive and give real world dimensions.

If anyone is interested in them, Amazon and Walmart are selling these $191 each with free shipping. Retail is over $300.. the large tire stores have them for $295. It was a semi-tough decision to purchase this way, 90% of my tires came through my local tire guy... but he sold out to a chain last year.

Truth in advertising! Unmounted circumference is 109.4"... that gives a diameter of 34.82". Tread width is 8.9", just a pinch narrower than the current rubber. These should tuck in very nicely on stock offset 18" wheels.

Very nice. Definitely a challenge.
Can I ask you if you ever consider the Tundra Pro suspension as an option ?
I drove one recently and I was impressed how comfortable is. I am really considering to replace the BP51 with Tundra Pro on the GX but no one is even talking about.
Thank you for your input.
