there is only one physical lock on the drivers door? nothing on the trunk?

on my old BMW, i can stick a long flat bladed screwdriver into the front grille, and manually engage the hood release mechanism..like turning a screw. maybe something like that exists

also on my BMWs, with a trunk mounted battery, i can connect a battery charger to a post under the rear bumper to get enough charge to trigger the electronic locks.
gave it one last go- balloon inflator thing in corner and coat hanger- was able to pop door handle and viola!
Jumped it and about one minute in it started smoking- looks like VCG has finally gone and oil coming out dropping onto front cat converter...
Reparked it, leaving the doors unlocked and hood not all the way closed/latched this time...

Edit: I moved it because i wanted to pull my 97 e300d that i picked up last month out and get it inspected.
Drove the mercedes to the gas station and the glowplug light came back on and trans went into limp mode- this is why htey sold it, they thought the trans was bad, I thought it was just a bad battery.
Looks like I will be ordering some glow plugs and taking a crash course in diesel engines...

Still want to swap in the LC axle, hopefully I can get enough life out of this one until it happens. I was thinking about tossing in some kind of axle stop leak, I know it's not the "right" way to fix the problem, but I'd rather not dump more time/money into something I'm planning on getting rid of anyway.

Your best bet is to just replace both inner axle seals and rest assured they wont be an issue.
 
Changing the oil on the 80. Pulling off a unicorn filter. If you know... You know.

If you are changing the plugs the OM 606 engine plugs are a pain to remove and the #6 plug will bring you to tears. The entire oil filter housing has to be removed to replace it. Before you do any of that check their resistance BEFORE you start pulling glow plugs.

not LC but installed a new fork and handle bar on my bike.... upgraded to a Rockshox Recon Silver and Race face Atlas 1 1/4" rise handle bar.
Should hopefully make this years riding more comfortable

just got my new stem cap cover installed as well... Got both a Swedish flag and a Maryland one... I can easily swap them about but started with the Maryland one for now... cause it isn't just a state... it's a Cult!

More work on the commuter corolla. I swore I'd just leave a 200k mile compact be, but cant help myself as I spend 400-600 miles a week in it.

A/C duct control and heater blend door were both non-functioning. The wire in the cable wheel switches abraded through the plastic sheathing, enabling the cable assemblies to collapse and the wire to jump off the adjustment wheels as below:

OE replacement assemblies surprisingly cheap; annoying part was timing the gears correctly. Lacking an FSM, the duct control was easy to figure out but blend control was counter intuitive to how the keyed pieces seemed like they should line up.

Since I was in there, put in a no-name chinesium carplay/android head unit and replaced both the "AUX IN" and switch delete slots with 6 and 4-pin USB ports, respectively, to the head unit. So far even the wireless carplay works great.

All-in, $150 total for the replacement control assemblies and head unit.
 
Ummmm all I did was put flowers on the balcony to make it pretty.... Lol.. and yes I know I need to sand and restrain the wood... maybe next weekend...maybe
