Re-acquired a 79l ARB classic cooler from @76FJ40 at the swap meet, mocking up for a drawer build! I sold mine that came with my rig from the PO to @Von Hayek thinking I’d never use it…fast forward a couple of years and here we are…;)

@CrabCake make sure you get the carpet to match the read lower door!!

That 80 deserves a rear swing out tire carrier.
Mine? I have one and a jerry can holder, just always seem to be in the way for my use. I'm building a DIY Labs bumper soon and will put on the spindles just in case....

Yeah, that 37" tire takes up a ton of room in there.

Only a 35 so far...37's are a bit of a pipe dream. I have parts coming to do a shorter drawer setup and then a platform for the fridge. Will give me a 30" wide x 32" deep compartment, about 9" tall. I want to do some other matching height boxes with hatches in the mid section that will be removable if I need one or two middle row seats. As of now, I'm a 2 seater and happy with it!

With the bumper now, it'll only handle a 35" max...the Labs should handle a 37 easily if I chose to do the carrier in the future. Remember, I'll be dragging the M101A2 for the campsite stuff and RTT!

And looking back at that pic, the tire does look larger than life, a bit of an illusion...it's not really that big!

It definitely keeps it out of the way if you have to turn and back in tight spaces...I like having the clean back with nothing hanging

Got my package from TNutz yesterday...

And to work starting the custom size drawer setup to fit next to the tire! I'm planning on a modular setup where this can stay in the back and have the fridge on top, then some removable boxes where the center seats usually live...just in case I need to pull a side or two for extra seating one day.

Following loose guidelines from this build...very helpful to get me started to dream up my own setup! I may pull the center section out and do a single large drawer instead of 2 skinnies, but I'll take further measurements now that this is started and see what I pan on stuffing in there. Mainly my permanent rig tool kit plus fluids, etc.

And just noticed from my pic, I need to flip the right side upright!

Worked on @toyactor 80 this weekend. 2 full days of some serious floor rust repair, she's is all sealed up now, treated the passenger side since it wasn't too bad. The driver side had a previous repair that we built upon but I ended up making some very intricate patch panels. Also fixed a rust hole in the rear wheel well. Carlos stopped with his lx450 to change his oil.

Weekend full of 80 series

That is like one of only four cuts I made all day 🤣 It was good to watch and learn rather than looking at what I'd done and hear myself saying, "you did what now"!! Good work was done right. Thanks @TRDdrew

very excellent work!

Rebuilt the starter on my 80. It had been on last legs for a while.
That top bolt. Ooofah. Tried every trick I came across on Mud, YT and the interwebs. Ended up with a stack of extensions coming in from behind the shock, on top of the spring. Many, many ugga duggas required. This was the first time it had been touched.
Went super smooth after that. @OTRAMM video on swapping guts was very helpful.
No rebuild parts left over on the workbench. #MissionAccomplished

That first start up was crazy fast and energetic.

Nice! Definitely need to be crafty on the wrench use!

@toyactor 80 is back for a 2 week extended stay at the cruiser cottage while he's out of town. On the agenda, lower quarter chop and a small spot on the rocker to handle some more rust repair. As well as a safari snorkel install was tonight's project

Lower quarter chop has started, eliminating all the rust one cut at a time.

I dig the chopped quarter look with no rear bumper, if it was mine I'd build a simple tube bumper to protect the lower quarters. Ultra high clearance
