Wes,

You can always mount it on the back like I mounted mine up front, should be about the same setup.

Cheers,

Michael

I hope these photos come up ok... ok 'Harvey' may not me modified as such... but he has had his arches taken off and a respray. Before these shots he was very modified in the form of 'trying to put a square peg into a round hole' type of way. To get him relatively straight again has only cost £550 so I'm well chuffed with the outcome.

Here is my truck:
85 BJ70
Belton lift (Thanks G@S and TLcruiserman)
33 x 10.5 x 15
new cooling system
not wheeled yet, but going to Baja again over the weekend...

How much inches is the belton susp.lift?
And how much did it cost?

Beltons give about a 2.5" lift over stock. As for pricing...much less than the original OME kit. Many people believe Belton makes the Dakar springs for OME...and I think you can still get a better price on Beltons.

Terrain Tamer is another option (I'm running it in my BJ74). Out of Oz and sold locally here by www.4wheelauto.com. A little less than 2.5" lift, and about $100 CAD more than Belton.

the lift elevated the truck by 4 inches, but only due to the fact that the old springs were completely flat. Stone is correct, it is designed to lift by 2.5 inches.
The kit (complete with shackles, shocks, everything) cost 1500US from G&S, plus a bit of shipping, depending on where you are. It is great product with even better customer support from G&S.

color is brown metallic, code is 4E8, I think, and factory, since the small bottles from Toyota with that code match precisely. I'll re-check the code, I am not completely sure.

here's my BJ74 for the short period i had it. it lives on in the midwest now as a trail rig now I'm told. the only mod to this one is that it's missing a chunk of frame.....

If you ever wanted to know the strength of the frame, the BJ74 was driven down the road to that driveway with only 1 frame member intact.

Gee that looks farmiliar. Where have I seen that before?

I´m looking forward to modify my cruiser (more or less) like yours :bounce:

so this is my `89 BJ70 with the 98hp engine, fullfloating axle including the lsd etc. :

(more pics here)

Only a few mods on my ride:
-new suspension (UMC Springs, OME front-shocks, ironman rear-shocks)
-235-85R16 BFG MTs (the old ones) on 5,5" splits
-custom front bumper
-aluminum-stearing-armorplate (not on the pics)

upcomming mods:
-used 255-85R16 BFG MTs (the new ones) on 6" rims (next week)

so thats my ride ...
I bought it a year ago for 8326.64CAD (5250.00EUR)and i had several problems with my toy - its unbelievable - i know!
I had to fix the complete front axle ... all gaskets including the whole brake etc., my injection pump (rotary pump) broke a year ago (okay that was my fault), the rear axle and brakes are fixed, too and the gearbox is driping (the next part to fix).

now I`m going to check the rest of this board

have a nice day

p.s.:
this cruiser from the netherlands...
klaar-zij.jpg

is powered by a 13B-T turboengine (more pics here) , the axle are from a volvo c303:

I hate to ask..what is klaxon engine mgt on a 3B???

It's actually called "Kaiser", not Klaxon. It's device that monitors coolant level, coolant temp, and oil pressure. If any one of those becomes dangerous, sirens (not unlike a klaxon, I would imagine) and lights flash, bleep and scream at you.

Oh, and here's an upright picture of Ziplock, my BJ74. It's mostly stock, except for 4x4labs steering arms with 1 ton rod ends, DOM tie rod and relay rod, and a hydro assist steering ram. For an otherwise bone stick rig (some would say that the S/O is not stock, but I retort by asking which part of the S/O didn't come from the factory...) anyway, for a stock truck, it rocks!

Future mods include 1.5" body lift, Loewenflares, aluminum bumpers, side steps, 4x1/2 doors, roll cage, 4 link/air bag suspension, 4.88's, a toybox and a cool paint job.

Pete, you dog you. That 74 is great. More in action pics please....

Hey, I'll play that game. I'd guess the only thing not stock about a SPO are the aftermarket spring pads that you have to weld onto the top of the axle housing!!!

How's that?

P.S., where can a guy get some of those Michelin XML's? I cant find any down here.

Wayne-O, is the negative reversed, or is that a right hand steering BJ70?
