Lan, your attention to detail and eye on design is just amazing. Top-notch work as always !

Ditch the OEM hitch though 😜

Under frame 80-series hitch will just be for heavy duty towing. Our bumper, a light trailer is no problem, a tow hitch can be bolted to where the pintel mounts.

Cheers

Installed this Radius Fabrication snorkel today on this 79.

It didn’t come with a support bracket here where the original snorkel mounts so we made this one out of stainless steel.

After searching the globe for a year I can not lay hands on the correct gauge cluster for a build we are doing. Canada, South Africa, Japan, Nicaragua, the Middle East and even the USA has turned up nothing but dead ends.

The only cluster I can lay hands on is this, it doesn’t suit our build because it is double tanks and we have a single. Not to mention no tach, it is the bare bones single cab with double tanks.

So we are probably going a route like this.

Yes that is a Dakota Digital for a diesel 40-series but it does fit, we can make it work and yes we will add trim so it looks more appropriate.

Toyota is a major pita when it comes to wiring harnesses and gauge clusters. 😬

Change of plans, rather than retrofit the 40-series diesel cluster we are sending off our low grade 79 cluster to Dakota Digital for fully built out custom cluster. I am excited now to see the results!

Yowza - could this be the beginning of Dakota 70-series clusters? I’m watching 😎

Nah nothing production wise. This is a one off custom cluster build by them.

The problem is we need a 2016+ cluster because the flasher unit for the turn signals is intergrated into the cluster. I was actually able to find the pre 2016 cluster brand new, full gauge cluster meaning tach with water temp ect. Old clusters are easy because you can tear them down and build the one you want. You can’t do that with the newer ones because everything is intergrated into the circuit board in the cluster.

Sick. A forum member had them make a 80 cluster a couple years ago. I was surprised at the cost considering how impressive the product turned out. I don’t think a lot of people know DD will make a cluster like that.

…would there be enough interest to get more than a one-off?

…I’d love to pimp my ‘89 from kmh to mph and add in EGT and boost on the screen…

…do I really NEED to know how much diesel I have…?
