I looked for ‘PI’ and all I could find were pictures of Tom Selleck.
@Phares Keep in mind that the island and ferry shut down at Thanksgiving. Schedule your ferry To/From trips well in advance. Kari (pronounced Car-ee) at Morris Marina is who you'll talk to about that. Can't think of anything Cruiser-specific other than to carry spare parts! Ain't nothing close to the Morris Marina. Gimme a call if you don't wanna read all the threads for info but I think the 2017 thread have the most pertinent stuff in one place.

Thanks everyone. I am gonna find that thread now and get to reading. I'm actually looking at the week right before Thanksgiving. Since I'm bringing the whole family were gonna rent a cabin. I will be doing recon for a future family beach trip as well as a guys beach camping trip. Thanks again everyone.
You can also look at Cape Lookout. Not sure how late in the season the ferry runs there, but there are also cabins on the northern chunk of the island near the ferry dock.
www.drumwagon.com will get you a TON of info that would apply to both islands.
Spare parts, boards, carpet, maxxtraxx, shovel and bucket, one of those nifty battery jump boxes, and gasoline if you plan on doing a lot of beach running. Also, extend your diff, trans, and tcase breathers if you plan on running the canal/backroad up to the village. almost always has water, depth may be 3 inches to 3 ft.

Why is that lumbee?
Some kids would be fine, others not. I know which of my nieces and nephews would be good and whichwouldn't. You know your kid best so it's really your call on that one.
Daddy was drinking a lot at Portsmouth Island. That is my time to let my hair down (what little I have) and only worry about getting myself to bed. While driving on the beach would be fun, sitting and waiting for fish to bite would be torture to them.
