Weekly drive in the pig…

We are having a sweat lodge this evening, followed by a feast. Elliot and I broke down this young boy to roast for dinner, and I cut the head apart, right on the hood of my landcruiser. Something tells me I'm not the first person to cut up a goat on the hood of an fj55.

Had some incredible times at close friends I grew up with at “goat fest” when he was raising goats. Live music on back of a gooseneck trailer, beverages and one of his slaughtered goats prepared multiple ways (simple fire and seasoning way) nothing fancy. Goat tacos always my favorite!

Everyone should get to experience something like that in a pasture in the country.

Still do this every year at a family and friends gathering near Crested Butte. Sheep rather than goats. One or two basted with beer, butter and salt, garlic in the cavity, hand turned next to an open fire. Cook takes about six hours. Sides are potluck. Music song pull afterwards. Family tradition going on for around a hundred years or more. Only time I ever eat lamb. Hard roasted skin is the best. Pretty greasy otherwise. We’ve also occasionally buried beef roasts in coals in a pit.

Where is that?
Not quite ishi wilderness but close!
If you take forward road out of Manton California and hang a right on ponderosa you'll come to a fork in the road leading to a retired Marijuana grow next to a lake.
The cliffs in the background are called bluff springs.
It was a perfect day for wheeling.
65-70 degrees and wet enough that there's no dust, dry enough that there's no sloppy mud.
I drove to where the road washed out then did a 9 point turn on the face of cliff to come back.
I spotted this pond on the way back and figured there must be a road to it.
I figured right.
Got a lot if new pinstriping today.

Some of y'all have land cruisers as recreational vehicles. I enjoy using mine for recreation, but I also love having it beneath me for the daily tasks of life.
Today I used it to take hay and grain to the goats, then to feed a friend's Scotish highland cows, and finally to another friend's house who is having trouble starting her diesel tractor.
I got everyone squared away before lunch and enjoyed every minute of it because fj55
