Heather - good to see you again too! It was refreshing to see such an unmolested & *pristine PIG at the meeting. We don't see them often enough. Yeah, I will need to look it over again & maybe take a few closeup pics as I didn't inventory when I tore mine down.

Roy & Barry - No posting in this thread from FORMER PIG owners. J/K! Y'all are welcome to come by anytime....... Nope, this won't be ready for GSMTR as I just started the link suspension & still have to go over the drivetrain, finish up the hybrid front axle, etc....... I'll be there with the 40 --> Sexual Chocolate

Thanks again everyone for the kind words!

I may not have the pig anymore, but I have achieved super coolness via the fj45, so I'm allowed to post anywhere... :flipoff2:
I wonder if Mark Wyatt still has that truck. I'd like to see it run cause it was pretty cool, and in pretty good body shape.

Well Chuck I don't have a Pig right now but I had one in my garage up until yesterday. Just finished painting it. Maybe I'll post a pic of it on your thread, that is if it's OK with you:D ???

Rear Upper Double Shock Mounts:

These are cooling off, ready to be burned in soon. I chose to run double shocks in the rear due to possibly having heavy loads - it was a tight fit. Also mounted the rear upper coil retainers. I'll snap a pic as soon as I'm done with all of this. Okay Roy, post your ride - is it the red & white one?

No it's not the '78 red and white 55. This is one is a 1971.

This is before......

The new owner has since put in a new windshield and new tires and wheels but I thought some of you would enjoy seeing the transformation.
Thanks Chuck for letting me post this on your thread!
See ya at the meeting next month.:D

Dang nice job on the resto Roy! I was hoping my Rustoleum Hunter Green would look like that, but mine's more of a grassy green, not dark at all. I don't see the patented "extended" Farr Off Road shackles. Did the new owner decline that option?

The shock bodies were a little too tight so I had to clearance the crossmember. I should have spent a little more time positioning the upper coil retainer mount cuz I had to squeeze the shock mount to the frame right next to it. I added a gusset on the backside of the upper tube to crossmember tie in. Yeah, the shocks will be painted green:

Well...that is his user name :D

Yes well In our business transaction for some reason Jared never told me what his user name was, however he pm'd me and now I'm educated:D !

I never wheeled that pig or it probably would have had them:eek: !

Seriously, the only reason I used them in the past was because I was on a VERY tight budget and that was the cheapest and easiest way to get big tires on there so I could wheel my pig! Hopefully that's a thing of the past! Now that there's Knuckle Busters:D !

Front Hybrid Axle Housing:

Instead of explaining everything at once, I'll go step by step for an easier understanding. My goal for this axle is to have maximum ground clearance w/ the LC housing & have 35 spline axle shafts all the way to the hub. I'm running an RD33 ARB w/ rebroached side gears from Jack @ CTM Racing. Gears of choice will be 4.88's. Tim Lund at www.wildwestfab.com preformed the added machinework to the ARB flange caps. I may be jumping back & forth with pics of this project.

Finally got around to this part of the build, which'll be a tedious assembly. Firstly, took a semi-float rear, cut off the ends to my desired length & had the ends turned down on a lathe to accept some Ebay Dana 60 outer "C's". I then, flipped the housing over & relocated a drain plug with a protective rim. I also filled the old 2 ring gear passages, cleaned it up, then cut 2 more passages for the new ring gear location - still need to clean that area up some:

Inner Oil Seal:

This view shows what you'll see inside the diff looking outward to the axle end. I'll need to get the diff assembled before I can locate this. Plus, I'll need to shave a little off the seal so it'll fit inside the housing. I added 2 safety seal tabs to prevent the seal from falling into the diff, just in case it should happen:

Outer Axle Seal

I wanted to be extra sure I didn't have any leaks so I'm installing a double outer axle oil seal from Mad4wd. I had to cut a slice of some 2 1/2" O.D. pipe & add 1/4" for the proper fit. I'll center the seal in the housing end once I get things further assembled:

I like the your approach to the inner axle seal and the hybrid toy/D60 you'll love it. I've heard a rumor that an ARB 35 spline side gear is or will be available soon. That way you'd wouldn't have to deal with having to broach. But if you got the ablity to broach its still nice to have in your bag of tricks.

You use the rear housing due tube lenght?

They're already available for a few LC ARB's & that's what I'm using, see link above to Tim Lund. I used the rear housing due to simplicity. I believe Tim is cutting off the housing right outside the diff & inserting tubes both sides. Locating an inner seal is way easier than what I'm having to do, but I knew that going into the project. Here's a mocked up view. I thought it'd be easier to just shave the inner housing for the seal. I still need to run an alignment bar through to check trueness of all seals. The outer double seal is the easy part:

It never dawned on me to install the inner seal like you got there. I've always retubed with turned inner seals. It got to be nice to get your torch/gun in there to weld with both ends open.

We're leaving the park's 40, 30 spline, for now, it's already has a ARB up front and they'll all get 35 spline not too long down the road.

You some where around 63" Wms to Wms ??
