Thank you DesertPat....that is a great photo! My bumper doesn't have the little tab on it, but when I get my crank, I'll see what I can rig up.

the lower the compression.......the easier to hand crank, 20(or whatever)-1 dsl.....aint gonna happen, but old and tired 2F....should be easy

Oh to have a blue Cruiser with a square bezel!!

Yeah, that's why I can crank start the FJ45 so easily!

Im actualy looking at pulling a hand crank pully off a old F engine and got to talking with my dad who grew up on a farm and apperently there WERE hand crank diesel engines in some older tractors but i cant remember which ones or how they worked...im thinking i should defanitly pull that crank though, its kinda cool

When I bought my '76 FJ40 brand new I noticed 2 boltholes in the bumper that had were not being used and the one-way ears on the crnk pulley nut. In '77 Toyota imported FJ45 pickups to Canada, they came with the steady bearing (support bracket) mounted on the bumper and the crank mounted to clips behind the seat. I ordered a crank from Toyota and made my own steady bearing. None of my BJs had any provision for hand cranking and I for one don't want to try cranking a ?B engine.

I wonder if it was to crank a gas starting motor, then that would start the dsl? I have no clue.........just guessing
