I had one in that location with a big tie-down ratchet from the 2nd seat latch to the tie-down in the rear. I wheeled hard with it without issue. Every couple of weeks, I'd need to readjust the strapas the tire tried to shimmy to the right.

This looks to resolve that with little wasted space.

This looks like a shop that could cnc some drawer system kits!

Shipping is the problem. I'm not willing to deal with that nightmare. If you want to drive and pick something up, I'd build it. I built some for my 40 that turned out pretty sweet. Thought about making some for the 80 as well.

I don’t like the tire hanging off the back.
It looks like he has the tire strapped down sufficiently.
Mines been in the back for the last 8 years and thats were it’s staying 😎

We’re all different and have a different perspective of where the spare should go.
And for different reasons.

My wheeling buddy has his on the rear bumper and more then once he has gotten hung up on it trying to go up a water fall and was unable to back up with out damaging the carrier. Then had to winch 🤷‍♂️
Where I was able to driver right up because I didn’t have s*** hanging off the back to get hung up on.
I have mine securely laying flat on the floor.
This keep the weight forward and low for a better center of gravity.
This isn’t always the best solution but it works well for me.
IH8MUD but it cleans up 🤷‍♂️ if it comes to that.
I’d like to see what the spare tire hanging off the back(swingout?) got hung up on so he could not proceed!

This is my friends rig, we like to run hard trails. If you don't want to damage you rig don't wheel with us 😂 :p

Guy is driving 1,400 to Florida not hitting the Rubicon.
Mount will work fine
Not sure why I wast my time
Of course it’ll work fine and neither one of those trails are the Rubicon.

I never said there was anything wrong with his set up.
you should go back and read the whole thread. 🤪
And the title.

Caved and bought an ARB rear bumper.

There's a lot of parts.
Departure angle is reduced greatly. It hangs way out, and drops a lot.

But, my 80 will never see really abusive trails. This bumper checked off a bunch of boxes. It will serve me well.
Cheap.
Spare tire swing out.
Built in hitch receiver.
Recovery points.

It was a project to install it. It comes in a lot of parts, and many of the fasteners aren't tricky to get installed. Quality and paint seem to be pretty good as well. Some visibility is lost out the back, but completely acceptable to me. Not sure you can avoid it any way.

I'm missing the cover for the right side. It's on the way. I'm guessing that will be maximum suck too get that on now that it's installed.

The license plate is supposed to mounted on on a bracket that goes in center of the tire carrier. I wasn't a fan of the plate being there. I put a cheap light made for receiver tube there instead and am powering it off of the running lights using the lead that was intended for the license plate light.
