I am personally in love with the whole quadlock ecosystem. Wife and I both use them, so we've got their mounts in our vehicles, on our bicycles, and her motorcycle. This mount in our 150-Prado has been there for about 2 years now, the 3M VHB tape they use is pretty much magic.

Had this one mounted to the gloss black trim that’s right by your right hand when on steering wheel - works great, charges fairly quickly. Have spent plenty of time bumping around off-road and it’s never fallen off or even slipped, I use a thin somewhat grippy phone case. And it’s easy, you just slap it up there and snatch it off when you hop out.

Check out my AC mount on 1st page. It is better than what you have. Lower profile. It is just a ring of magnets...so you have air circulation directly into MOST of the back of phone. In addition, with how i mount it...the lower part of the vent is unobstructed...so i still get air from those vents.

BTW, with my install, IF you need more air from THAT vent, I just put my iPhone horizontal ("landscape"). Still have navigation in line of sight, my phone still getting cooled, AND I am getting AC to my body from the vent.

Either way, even after 3 pages, I still sincerely believe that my install is the easiest, safest, most convenient, "coolest" (temp wise) on phone, AND does not block Toyota NAVI which I need when I use the cameras (off-road or when backing out).

GOAL: To secure my phone when off roading, and to raise it's position high enough that I don't have to look very far away from the road but not so high that it obstructs the view out of the windshield. I'm removing the previous lower mount I was using. I really like the dash top accessories clips, but I don't like how they obstruct the view of the road. So...

I put a Mob Armor mount in mine. Previously had a cheap Schoche mount down by the PWR VOL knob. Still need to clean up the adhesive left over (in 2nd pic below).

This Mob Armor mount is super strong, but the disc is too big to fully adhere to any part of the dash. I ended up picking a spot just under the air vent. I used a knife to keep some of the peel-off backing on the part of the disc that can’t adhere to anything. It works awesome and does not block either the view of the road or of the screen. I have one in my Tundra, too. You can even remove the magnetic mount and attach it to the underside of your hood or the frame of your truck if you're following a maintenance or install video. They claim 90 lb force with the magnet. It doesn't feel that strong, but it is much stronger than other magnet mounts I've used. Highly recommended.

It doesn’t block anything important on the screen. I dig it. 👍

I use something similar but with this disc mount, works well Even though the dash isn't flat

At the window on the left is also some nice space without blocking something in the middle

For me, this is a no go because:

1. I am right handed. :D

2. Charging cable has to make a long distance travel across your steering wheel column. And when your phone is fully charged, then you disconnect your cable (via left non-dominant hand again) and then your cable falls everywhere and then you have to use your right hand now to put cable away...two handed affair.

3. It "may" interfere with the side curtain airbag deployment???

4. Your phone may still overheat and nothing you can do about it.

1. me too hehe I got used to it
2. it runs under the plastics directly from the radio and I have a small 3d printed holder for the lightning cable so it is always stored nicely
3. there are no side curtian airbags in my 200. The only Airbags mine has are the on at the steering wheel and the passenger one. Africa edition….
4. never had an overheat and thats the benefit of cable charging. You have way way way less heat.

But at least everyone has to find the right solution for himself and we bringing ideas together so everyone can pick them if he isn’t unsure how to mount the phone

Got my phone mount from a company called Thabt based in GCC, it’s the most OEM solution I found for the 200/LX series and a bunch of other car models. They sell a trim that you attached to the passenger footwell side and from there screw in any mount you like , I choose a ball mount receiver and installed my trusty MagSafe phone mount, its so strong that it holds my pixel 8 which obviously not MagSafe compatible

Has anyone else figured out this trim piece mentioned? I don't do instagram, but I went looking for it and it and I couldn't find it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

click on their instagram and above the pictures there are black/yellow icons, scroll to the LC one and click

I got that far but have no idea on pricing. I sent them a message and have not hear back.

I wasn't sure which of the three sites would be best one. It's just kind of a hodgepodge.

This was what was available when I did mine. Been working well for a couple years now.
Belkin charger

I removed the vent mount from from the ball socket and drilled a hole through the pro clip’s surface the diameter of the threaded part of the ball socket. Then screwed the charger to the pro clip using the ball socket retainer (see photo).

The cord dangled over the start button, so I put one of these right angle adapters on to route the cord away from the button.

Will see how it holds over time with the 3M tape.

Does not block the AC vent much with phone mounted yet still getting some ventilation from it. Does not block the big display/screen much at all… so rear view camera still good with phone mounted. The mounting base also swivels left and right.

I have been using the VicSeed for about 7 or so months.

As you had. Great one ! Really holds well and tight the phone in place as the magnet is very strong. Also, with a short black USB cable, easy to connect the phone to the aux port in center console, easy to take the small cable out, or leave it, not too intrusive.

Drawbacks:

1. In winter, warm air warms the phone, probably not good for long trips.
2. The mount starts getting loose now and then, not sure why I keep having to tight it up.

I might try this solution, but I don't like "pasting" stuff in any of my vehicles. Also, saw that now there is a "brain" we can install in pre 2016 models, where you keep the head unit and Android/etc plays, work via the original head unit. I like that approach better. I did the "Tesla" mod in my LC100, and it ended up frying something in the main panel, no bueno !

Cheers,

G.

In cold weather, I close that vent off. For me, not a big deal because more heat is directed to the other vents.

Ok using it on my drive today for first time. PERFECT. I tell you that this is PERFECT!! :)

Magnets are super strong. No issues over bumps.

Since it is cold, i just rotate the base to the right away from the AC vent…still visible yet out of the way of the vent. And when i reverse the car, i just rotate the base to the left to get 100% view of the display. In the natural position (straight line of view from my eyes to iPhone), it neither blocks the vent nor the display much at all.

Really, the only potential issue i see is how well the 3M tape will hold over time, esp in summer heat. But as of now, this is a dream mount IMHO. Highly recommend. Oh the build quality is pretty sweet. High end materials for something like this.

Here's my contribution on my new to me 2012 Lexus LX570

1000006103.jpg

I found these while searching for mounts. I thought "Bugger it" and got a quad lock mag case & put this little attachment down in the centre by the 12v outlet.

I don't like having my phone up on the dash (heat etc) nor do I like it in front of the vents and my precious car - a 2021 Kia Stinger - had a factory wireless charger down low. But it was rubbish.

This, however, is great. I can put my phone down without looking, it's angled towards me so the passenger has ample leg room and the best part, I don't even need to hardwire it to make it look tidy.

The mag quadlock is very sturdy and my phone doesn't seem to shake, move or anything at all while driving & the roads around me are quite rough.

Want to really emphasize how much I LOVE this mount! Been a month. FLAWLESS. The base rotates left and right. It is really a perfect mount if you use MagSafe.
