Upgrade qi mobile phone charger?

Hello,

My qi wireless phone charger pad never worked in my 2017 since I purchased new, but at the time, I had an older iPhone without mag charging, so I didn't notice until after the warranty expired. I see that there are now "fast" charger replacements available online. Has anyone done this upgrade? Any concerns to share before I attempt in terms of wiring or other electrical pitfalls?

It’s not turning on/off with the little button in there? I mention it because it’s not the most obvious control.

It's been confirmed to be dead at dealer. No power to the thing, even after pressing that little button.

interesting option, however my beef with the charging in that hole is that even just putting your phone in there on long tips (without charging) it gets too hot... I ended up putting a MagSafe charger on the little door and string the phone sideways to avoid overheating... ($20 - for usb C based one where I could just use a very short cable)
