So wife recently got a used LX570 (hooray) after her GX460 was totaled. Upgraded it with the Grom Vline2 just like my LC. But unlike the LC, was having trouble finding a place to put her Scosche magic mount. She had the idea of "if only that clock wasn't there it might make a good spot for the phone mount". Challenge accepted.

Thingiverse link here.

Brilliant! How much flex do you get at that spot?

I do wish there was a digital clock either in the center dash or media screen.

I'm up for buying a high-temp version if any of the 3D printer guys are up for building one.

Stability of the blank there? Rock solid for a phone. The clock is held in with two clips that are pretty snug, but not screws unfortunately. I wouldn't say you could do a tablet there or something with similar weight, but for a phone it feels great.

Getting devices supported in that general area have a few options. I like the Gamaviti type solution with rail space in the speaker mount, but that results in longer arms and the need to get above the 16+ screen. I've been considering just mounting a track into the wood, but that trim assembly is an $900 part if I ever decided to go back or sell the truck.

Do you suppose there's a way to add hardware to secure it back to the factory support between the two vents shown below?

My thought is that if it were strong enough you could have a bar with a track that mounts to your clock replacement block where multiple devices could mount. Primary desire would be phone, ham radio head, and microphone.

Ohhh, that's a good thought. I'm almost certain there would be a way to do this. I'll take a look next time I have that dash part off and let you know what I see.
