When I put in a new radiator, the previous owner had green stuff in it. I flushed it several times and put toyota red back in. Now I am having to change heater lines because I am seeing red flakes around the outside of several of the heater hoses....could it be related to swapping back to toyota red from the regular green fluid? I have just under 1000 miles since I picked this rig up. It was neglected, but rust free. I have been baselining it ever since I got it. I am not rich, so I can't do everything at once. After changing out the heater hoses, I hope to do a complete front axle rebuild. I have new tires and a arb bull bar now. I would like to add a rear locker soon, but I may have to hold off until the spring....I really need to do the front axle rebuild first!

It's 2013, your vehicle is a 1994 model. It is 19 years old. PO may have replaced some lines/clamps with cheap after market. Hoses age, clamps lose tension. It is what it is. Maintenance is what is required.

cheers,
george.

True and I don't mind turning a wrench. I just want to enjoy the ride sometime! ;-)

Had to work today so I didn't work on the phh. My 13 year old daughter is going to help me tomorrow. She wants to build a 80, so she might as well get the experience.

The offending hose.

Doesn't look that bad but it is leaking for sure. If you can get your tools like that camera then it looks WIDE open. I did mine awhile back and remember it was not bad at all. I did not take off the starter or anything else. To take hose off make a slice with razor blade length wise on the hose, then you can just peal it off.

It is done. Was not bad at all. The rubber hose broke apart when I was pulling it out.

Look at the pic....the orange wire has to be put back together. It was twisted with a piece of electrical tape around it. What is this wire to?

No idea on the orange wire, everything there should be in a loom or sheathed, possibly something aftermarket? Alarm?
Also, there is another small heater hose under the intake. This is a good picture below of one next to the blue silicone PHH.

The black hose is the throttle body bypass hose (either #1 or #2, can't remember specifically which) - runs coolant through the throttle body to prevent icing up.

It's somewhat more of a pain to get to since it's crowded even more by the knock sensor just under it and intake manifold above. I replaced mine (straight run to my s/c) when doing a bunch of other valve cover/injector work so that the top intake manifold was off - still a pain to get to.

cheers,
george.

The orange wire that is shown in the pic as well as the other three run to the number two o2 sensor. All the wires were cut. I fixed them and put in new o2 sensors. This fixed my code 26!
