So I was wandering through the best mods under a $100 bucks thread and came across the Pfran led light kit for the interior. I purchased and received them. However, what I got doesn't look like what was pictured. I got a few flat panels and a some plug looking things with wires coming out. Anybody know how to install these things? Are the light housings easy to get off? Thanks.

The flat panels are adhesive-backed and get placed wherever makes sense (inside the housing, above the lens). They have plug/adapter things that go into the spot where the OEM bulb was. The housings pop off...pretty sure I found some videos on Youtube for the ones that weren't intuitive.

There are some install tips on their web site and some FAQs.

I just did this on my FJ60 last Friday. Basically, turn off your dome of rear light, pop off the lens/cover and pull the old bulb. Put the fake bulb thingy in (not connect to the flat panel LEDs) and then turn the light switch on and then plug in the panel of LEDs. IF they don't light, flip the connection. Red to black, black to red in my case. They should light up. If so, peel the strip off the adhesive and stick the flat panel LED thing up into the light fixture and snap the lens/cover back on. They light up bigly. ALso their reverse bulbs are the bomb.

Ah ha! so those are like blanks that replace the actual OEM bulb and then wire to panel. Great, thanks for your help. The rear seat in general is poorly lit.

It won't be anymore...lol

Yeah, @Nostradamus is right. The kit for my LX450 was packaged kinda weirdly, to my stupid 'ass, and it took me a while to sort it all out and figure what went with what. But the @pfran42 stuff is top notch and super convenient. The high power reverse bulbs are the best I've found yet. I happily recommend Pfran to anybody who will listen. And, it's nice to come home to a surprise of 2 days of having a door not fully shut and all your interior lights on but the battery barely shows a drain.

Their backup light bulbs will give you a friggin sunburn.

Here's my 60 backed up to the garage door. pfran LED backup light is on the passenger side, OEM still in on driver's side.

The :princess: thinks they're too bright, and said "no" to my offer to put some on her FJ Cruiser. I think they're pretty awesome :D

Oh wow. That might make LEDs in a rear bumper redundant!

Veddy nice. I got the reverse lights too. Will get them in this week-end. Thanks for the tips!

The interior lights do a great job to brighten things up.

I've got 7W Cree LEDs as reverse lights in my FJ80 and as noted above by @Nostradamus, they are GREAT. Backing up in a very dark forest used to be awful, no longer the case.

However, the PFran reverse bulbs I've got in my GX470 don't make much of a difference. The housings on these vehicles just don't give the same throw so it's a disappointing mod - I still can't see much at all when backing up in the GX (can't pin that on the bulbs).

The GX470 reverse light housing requires an LED that throws light to the sides, the projector style that PFran sells shoots light out the end of the bulb which ends up putting light on either side of the GX, but very little light behind the truck. They are amazing in my HDJ81 as the bulbs point straight back, but I returned the ones I'd purchased for the wife's GX.

This makes sense - I emailed PFran and he said he'll check into alternatives. I'll share whatever he comes up either way.

I will talk to PFran if you like. He lives 5 miles from me :p

Well duh!.....tell him a group buy is on his horizon if he gets this right :).
