I think you posted this in the wrong thread. Did you mean to post in "Soft Top order in progress" thread?

No, I think he was doing your group a favor by showing some pics of the material to help aid in their decisions and prevent anyone from being dissapointed if the materials are not what they had envisioned. ;)

No I did not. I wanted it here:)

Great, thanks! I saw the other thread were people were asking "...where is the stuff...? and your reply that you were packing to send them wasn't there, so I assumed it was accidentally posted here, sorry!

Your picture looks like the canvas is blue, is that a new color?

Are you pleased with the weight of the canvas (not too light), the finished seams and stiching strength?

I posted because when I did the order it was hard getting an idea what were getting. I tried to show what the inside looks like as well. Ehsan says this is the same material their arm forces use. My opinion and it's just my opinion is this material looks and seems stronger than the previous vinyl. Ironicaly, this is or looks like vinyl. The old tops were double sided with another layer of vinyl which made them heavier. The canvas is the normal color that you have been seeing on current threads. The other top you see is the lastest material(grey) Ehsan is using. We also got some in black and tan.

I like the canvas, I just wish he could find a vendor that makes it in black. It's well stitched. Another option the ability to choose clear or tinted widows. and yes it's durable and will last a long time if you take care of it. It just takes forever to get it to the USA as we all know.

One buyer dropped, so we are now 12. Five have reviewed their orders and signed off, waiting for the other seven to respond to PM sent yesterday. We are getting closer to collection time.

Hi Burbank

Ordering is done cafeteria-style, go to www.global-ims.intranets.com and enter as a guest, then 1) Register in the buyer's group registry 2) Browse Eshan's Catalog 3) Enter your order 4) Verify order when I contact you 5) Pay, money order only 6) Sit tight and wait what can be anything from 3-12 months for delivery.

Prices listed are set by Ehsan pre-shipping to USA, pre-taxes, pre-UPS to your address from New Orleans, LA.

Don't ask me for those charges because I don't know them yet. One way to estimate for the UPS component is to go to your local UPS store and ask them for an estimate to have a medium box shipped to you from New Orleans (assuming a large box is the case, which I won't know until I get it).

Hope this helps.

I am the one asking about delivery times. Have you had a chance to talk with guy making them and get a general idea as to when they will be shipped. I just don't want to pay $700 and then be waiting for a year to get it. Thanks for your time.

A fellow ih8mudder send me the above by PM and I though I would share my reply with others in this thread:

I have no control over delivery times. Like buying stock, there is some degree of risk you have to be willing to take. I am not providing any guarantees once the money is in Ehsan's hands either. We are all flying by the seat of our pants on this and relying on the past experiences of previous buyers, which seems to have been that delivery does occur consistently and no one has been bilked of their money. But, Ehsan is in Pakistan, and you are here in the USA, and if you looki at his photos, it looks pretty remote, so, months of waiting is likely, but worth it if you want an accurate replica of the original Toyota soft top.

I thought you said PMed me. My mail filter grabbed it.

The OD green is a color referred to by Johnnyc in this post. It's a military green.

The order is fine, I would still like to see a sample of the olive drab canvas. Is there one posted some where I missed?

Are you going to set up a paypal account for payment or do we mail it to you?( I would pay the Paypal fee)

Hi Kevin,

I do not have pictures of the Olive Green. Last one I saw was on a cruiser sold in EBAY maybe one or two years ago. If anyone reading this has a picture, please post it.

I was thinking about collecting money orders from everyone and depositing in bank in "escrow". It gives me a greater sense of security knowing the money is in my control.

I would ask Eshan to accept one half of the order's $$ value up front, and the other half upon the arrival of the order to the USA intact.

I want to warn everyone that there are potential pitfalls bringing the order into the USA that could increase the cost. Therefore, the amounts I collect will have to include additional contingency dollars so I am not left holding the bag. I would reimburse the buyers any such funds not spent.

Below is an account of someone else's experience who has done the group order twice:

"
Re: Ehsan's shipment
This what I would do if I had to do it again.

Ask Ehsan if you can pack the tops in 18X18 squares. This will be easier to ship at your end. He will label everthing. Keep a list on paper and all also keep the envelopes people send money in. Ask the person sending money to write down email addresses, phone numbers and what they want. year of land cruiser, will it have a tailgate? color of top.....remember it took me a year and half to get our stuff. One [buyer] sold off there cruiser and another forgot exactly what he ordered. You need these phone numbers on the shiping lables as well. I opened an account on DHL. Let everyknow you are not a business.

I think 10 -11 tops is about right. Make sure you get the shipping company name sending the tops [from Pakistan] and they should give you a waybill or some paper indicating you are the owner. When you go to [USA] Customs they will want to know the value of the shipment. ....Ehsan wrote down on the invoice the value of the tops and that is what I gave them. Customs will tell you if it hits a certian dollar limit you will not be able to claim the shipment, a broker will have to do it for you. They charge a fee and warehouse will charge a fee and U.S.A will want their cut.

What I did the second time was, explain to them that I'm not a business and I'm not doing this for a profit. I gave them a list of the owners' tops and let them know the tops had names on them and if they could with due respect not to mix them up while inspecting. To my surprise they did not make a mess. You may not pay tax if all goes well but don't push your luck.

If anyone is ordering half doors but with out upper halfs make sure you get them with option that if for some reason you want to install them at a later date you can. Don't get the cup holder unless he sends you a pic. I think the cup holders he send were not all that great. "

Frankly, I am not going to put myself in a position to have to explain to Customs people anything I cannot support with documentation. I will ask around with some brokers a price estimate to have them claim the shipment if in the end it will make things smoother for everyone at a permissible cost.

Any comments from members of the current buyer's group will be appreciated.

Ricardo
