Painting a 2F

Were there specific paint codes for the 2F engine?

I'm getting a used 2F that I'm gonna clean up and pop into my 55. I'd like to degrease it and paint it up.

Any suggestions? Paint type? Colors? Pics would be cool. Mine's not a show truck but basically rust free. I'm thinking of painting the outside pumpkin orange and white someday. I'm not overly concerned about keeping exact engine colors so I guess I'm looking for engine block color examples.

Engine Paint

I purchased a couple cans of Hirsch Automotive engine paint for my 2F project but haven't tried it yet. Here's a link to the Hirsch Web site:

I did mine with duplicolor 500 degree paint, available at Napa and probably other parts stores. I would highly recommend working with it to anyone. It's great stuff. I am very pleased with the color scheme I chose, gold head, black block/oil pan/brackets/etc, silver intake and cooling parts, and red accents. I'll try and get a few pics. BTW I used 1200 degree paint for the header.

Personally I'd stick with black and pewter on the valve cover.

Wow. That is... "special".

I had my 2F rebuilt and the shop painted it black. I do not like it - can't see any leaks.

Next engine I build I will prob go with battleship gray.

I used the dupicolor and a clearcoat for my 350. it looks really nice, not sure how it holds up over time, but anything is better than the purple that was on there.

I think you missed a spot - I can still see some purple...
