Painted rims?

Will these rims look OK on a silver UZJ100?

Pint, that looks real sharp! I can't decide which way I'm going to go with my wheels, graphite like yours or straight black.

I went round and round over the black versus graphite for 6 months! Finally I had to say, what the hell...it's only gonna cost me $50 in materials. I think black with my black truck and accessories would be a bit much for my taste. I wanted a little contrast.

Looks good Pint.

You did it right Pint! I like the graphite look. That's the color I was thinking about painting my new 18". But got lazy and cheap and left them facto silver. Good thing 'cuz they're already scratched .

I know they'll get scratched since I was cheap and used rattle cans. But that makes touch up easy as well!

That, as you know, is the benefit to rattle canning them...much better touch up match.

Did the tire installers get the tires installed without scratching?

I personally do not like the dark gray/black colored wheels. To me, they look like there is a ton of brake dust on them and need to be cleaned... IMO. Everone is different though, do what YOU like !!

I like black. However I don't think wheels are where paint should be. Scratched to hell after some serious off roading more than likely with the type of wheels they are.

No scratches from the installers.

Most places have "touchless" tire machines they days. For point of refernce, I ran powdercoated rims on my 80 for years, no scratches, no chipping. Only real damage, other than curb rash, I've seen to a rim was a friend of mine that got his truck stuck in deep mud and spun the wheels for a LONG time trying to get out. The abrasion of the mud stripped the rims.

Great job Pint!

You've shamed me into getting mine done. I like the "Graphite" a little more than the bronze I did. So where did you get the "Dupli-Color" paint?

Nice work all - those are looking amazing PINT!!

I am lovin' the looks of painted rims, but I think mine would be best in black to match the other trim. Plus I am keeping the sliders black when I get them next month.

I was just messing around with some REALLY crappy effects... feel free to photoshop some real ones if you have time anyone!! :D

1) as she sits today
2) adding black Slee non-step sliders
3) sliders AND black rims (i think this has to be the way it's going to be!!!)

I bought some at Autozone, and more at Napa. Most of the stores in my area have the Dupli-Color brand. Look for their special "Wheel Coating" I think they offer black, silver, graphite, white and clear around here.

The gunmetal and bronze both look great!! I would be happy with either one.

Jeff, when you do paint them let me know. Id like to see them up close and in person.

Well the sun is out and Pint got me going again, I laid out the rims and prepped them.

Then applied some of that "Graphite".

I'll let them cure a couple of days, but the surface temp was 100+ in the sun, so they are semi baked.

can't wait to get the other tires mounted.

Niiiice!

Does anyone have a picture of a champagne cruiser with bronze rims? How about a champagne cruiser with graphite? I thought I was going to go flat black however now I thinking about bronze or graphite instead. Thanks.

They are done in "Graphite" finally. Took them down this morning and had the tires mounted. The AT's are so much quieter, Spressomon has a point on that one.

And a nice quite lakeside spot for lunch.

Now to get the bumpers and side mouldings done in the same color.
