Don't want to alarm people and would like for others to confirm, so it could be my only issue. But I had my J250 locked and I was curious if the rear glass door would stay locked too but it opened. With all driver and passenger doors locked. This is a huge security issue and I hope it's just mine and not everyone else's.

Did you have your key in your pocket? I like that I can open the rear glass and grab something without all the other doors coming unlocked.

Ok, thank goodness. Ya, without the key, the rear glass does not open. I had the key with me last time.

5K service today. Miles have been growing much slower due to travel. I remain overall happy with the GX. I paid for an oil change out of pocket and will get the free one @ 10K. This was my second oil change. I changed out the oil myself ~750 miles before our summer road trip.

I’m now at two minor problems with the GX. The first was an air line came loose in the passenger seat which was easily fixed. The second is my brake pads are singing loudly when backing up. Sometimes when braking lightly going forward. Is much louder when hitting the dusty trails. Function is fine.

There is a Lexus service notification for this. Parts are on backorder. Basically new pads/rotors/shims combination. Here is the parts list.

Minor inconveniences.

10/25/2024 update - New front rotors/pads/shims came in and truck has been updated by Longo Service Department. No more singing brakes. No change in brake feel or performance in the drive home. Will go easy on the brakes for next few hundred miles while the new pads bed into the new rotors.

I don't consider a 100 or 200 a Landcruiser. 😆

I don't want to start a thread for this, but why would anyone choose the Toyota version over the Lexus version?
For me I agree the outside of the Lexus looks better, but I actually like the LC interior better. A little more rugged. Plus, I agree with what wngrog said: It's my daily driver and the mpg's are better.

I just got my 250 on Monday and have 400 miles on it already. I've really enjoyed reading this thread because I've had a lot of the same experiences as the other posters on here. Hate the nannies (why can't a vehicle treat you like an adult? If I want to open the door while I'm backing up, let me do it without beeping at me! If I want to leave the engine running and get out, why give me a screen asking if I want the vehicle to turn off after an hour? If I need to check my mirrors while driving, and also look at the dash for a couple seconds, SHAME on me! I get beeped at for taking my eyes off the road.)

This is my first hybrid, and I'm really enjoying this engine. I like the way sport mode tightens the steering up and gives good response. So far its been enjoyable.

One weird thing:
Once while driving the whole engine just cut out for a split half second. I heard one other car reviewer on YouTube say they had the same thing happen to them once. Nothing else happened, and it hasn't done it since. Just was a little odd.

I think I have found a way to stop the car from telling you to keep your eyes on the road. Going to try this and will come back to explain how in case you are interested.

Will I regret exchanging my '09 LC200 for a GX550? I've got the itch real bad.
I took the plunge, and overall have no regrets. I didn't get the GX, I got the LC250. It's nice to get decent mpg's and have a nice modern ride. My LC200 was my daily and all I did was mostly highway driving, so the switch made sense for me. Plus, the dealer made me such a great offer for my LC200 that I have a good decent amount of equity in my new one. The prices of LC200's have went up a little, and that helped out my deal. No regrets for me yet!

Sounds good, I'd be interested to hear if it works
It was pretty easy to turn off. You turn it off in the gauge cluster menus. Once off, it stays off.

Settings>vehicle settings>driver monitoring settings

I guess that is pretty deep in the settings..

They gave you a good price because it was a downgrade.

Something to check on your trucks. Be sure your spare tire can be lowered!

Context - 5K service on Friday included a 4-tire rotation. That’s fine, I do 5-tire, but can make the swap at home and I wanted a practice spare tire swap-out dry run in my driveway on a sunny 65F day.

What I experienced - I couldn’t lower my spare more than an inch-or-so. It would lower normally (same set-up as my Tacoma had) and then bind, and bind solid.

So, crawled underneath to investigate and found that spare tire chain loop had fallen through one of the lug holes in the spare and was cross-wise jammed into the hole in the wheel. I’m really glad I didn’t he-man it because it not have come free and would have likely broken the spare hoist chain and/or mechanism.

Here is a picture of the offending link

So, I ran the spare back up (to get as much free chain on the ‘unloaded’ side of the mechanism and then used a flat-blade screwdriver to pry the wedged chain link free.

From there same-same as my Tacoma.

I also went ahead and weighed the tire that had 5K miles on it and the spare. The unused spare weighed 70.6lb, the tire with 5K miles 70.0lb. Quite light for a 33” mounted tire. I also compared the tread depth and, while the 5K tire had a little less depth, it was not an appreciable difference. Here is a photo of the wheel specs cast into the wheel back side as well.

Turbo8 has outlined above except I also turned off "driver monitor camera recording". So still in vehicle settings...DMC Recording - turn off.
I've driven and tested and no one telling me to "sit up straight" or "eyes on the road". You can drive with your hand at 12:00 and look away if you would like.

250 Folks: I just want to briefly apologize. Your trucks look very sharp, and they are still quite new, so when I see you on the road and don't wave, it's because I'm staring and simply forgot to wave. The moment you're too far past to see my wave, I wave. It's not you, it's me. It will get better.

No worries man, we'll wave to you as we're driving on the road and see you parked at the gas station! 🖐️ j/k
