SILVER Star
Alright folks,
It's time to put those fancy RTTs, Awnings, Fridges, on board water heating systems, Traction mats, espresso and margarita makers, leaf blowers (yes, it's a thing now) to use for reals. The temps down south are cooling down and the leaves are changing so it's prolly a decent time to run NMBDR New Mexico Backcountry Discovery Route (NMBDR) from south to north. I'm not sure how much of this we can do but I'm figuring on taking the Friday and possibly the Mon off to get a four day weekned outing.
I'm not too keen on going all the way to Dell city, TX to start this adventure but hoping to jump into the trail on the NM side based on the experience from John and Steve. The thought of driving the interstate to TX is unappealing to me. I think some of us has done part of this trail system in the southern part of NM but prolly not the northern part of NM.
Pipe up which weekend is good for you and let's get the planning started.
This should be a stock-ish rig friendly with the exception of the section near the ghost town of Chloride, NM which is a tad rocky but nothing crazy. I towed a camper through this section couple of autumns ago so it's a ho hum yawn fest but you do need to pay attention. I think a good set of all terrain tires is about all you really need so that you can air down for comfort and reduced puncture factor.
As always, these trips are dogs and kids friendly. I'll have Isabelle on the 13th but not on the 6th. Children must be leashed, dogs can do whatever.
