seriously make sure you promote frequent oil changes.

so i am going to get after this thing with a pressure washer before i can even pull the heads.
its really disgusting, if nothing else.
i wish i could choke the retard responsible for doing something so heinous to a toyota.
this pic really shows the buildup around the spark plug tube

Yuk. At least it all should be fresh when you are done, just trying to look at it from a better angle.

at this point i have 150$ in this motor.

and the guy i got it from was a dumbass.

they couldnt figure out why it wouldnt fire when it had a skipped t-belt.

he told me it had been a fleet vehicle prior to his owning it, so i guess i should have known better.

at the same time, i figured 150 for a core wasnt too bad.
i think it will clean up fine, its just more time and $$$ before liftoff.

after work i tore the heads off...
so after further evaluation, theres no way this retard didnt know this motor was trash.
if i wasnt scared of kfalls id go back with a 150$ can of whip ass

the first pic is the front cam bearing, the next is the cam that lived there, or was tortured there, notice the sweet groove in the journal...extra oiling capacity:rolleyes:

like how the oil return hole is packed solid, both heads are like this, both are paperweights

Industrial strength economy sized can of whoop ass would definitely be in order! Sorry man that really sucks! You'll make it breath fire again though, just a bit more time and some more coin...at least you'll know exactly what you've got providing the horse for your new pimp ass 4 runner :grinpimp:

no offense, but i think bobbing is for homos. both meanings totally intended.

also that runner isnt SAS :(

so a quick little update. i scored a 150k motor from the MC board. my brother and i went to grass valley last tues.

the previous owners are retards like most and let the whole preventative maintenance thing slip. water pump was leaking and made a nice mess behind the timing cover eventually fxxxing the front seal and idler bearing.
i have been off this job for the last three weeks i think. i have to get the trans out of the pickup and install in my black runner because it sold to the guy who took my RE.

so i hope to back on this by next weekend. i really am trying to be driving it by the April thing.

heres a couple pics.

pics showing what being a fxxxing retard does for you

so not counting that bearing, i can use the one from the other motor,
i dropped another 300$ for the t-belt, h2o pump, t-stat, a VC reseal setup, crank and cam seals. the rest of the t-100 oil dipstick stuff
so after some cleaning and reassemble its going to be shiny and new.

i can almost smell the 42s smokin

so aside from the above BS this motor looks good enough to eat off of. the day i pulled the VCs off this thing two different buddies asked me if i had just changed the oil.
not the case, this guy was religious about oil changes. this is what it should look like when you pull a VC

last pic of the night
i will buy a beer for anyone who can tell me what this goes to

That's the South end of a North bound Atom... Or the most common view other drivers have of an Atom... You owe me a beer :D

I'm finally back from a crazy little stretch of work. Pretty sure I can finish up the design details next week, I will drop you a line when I'm happy with it.

i am sure i owe you more than a beer my man.

so i have been making some progress on the runner.
got the 3.4 pretty much back together.
VC reseal is done, t-belt is done
oil pan today or tomorrow
i am almost done modding the engine harness.
got the right motor mounts
ordered my case adapter and a couple other necessities
heading to white city metal for some material today.
hope to have the suspension done next week and at least get the motor test fit.
i still need to work out the exhaust issue get some PSC steering and get some interior stuff together.

i wish i could start a project like that, the day i start cutting that much **** off would be the day the :princess: walks out the front door with her bags.

thats why i took the easy route and bought an 80. i'm jealous though.
