I have an opportunity to potentially purchase an all original (Toyota steel) full tub for a 79’+ 40 series. It is in good shape, no real need for any repairs. I don’t see these often, so it is hard to gauge what the value of these are. I know the cost of CCOT tubs, but wondering if people have any recent references or general input on the value of something like this!

Thank you!

I agree it is hard to put a value on that.

The only aftermarket replacement panel I've bought was for the bottom of an ambulance door, and the fit was horrible. My understanding is that is typical of aftermarket sheetmetal, and I have NEVER read of an aftermarket tub that didn't require a significant amount of work. Work means time, and time means money.

So, in my opinion (big disclaimer) a no-kidding rust free, dent free, original, unmolested Toyota tub is worth a premium. I would think $10K+ easily.

Year month date matter if looking for direct paint and go. Few changes after 1/79. Big one is 10/82. Cost of shipping matters as well. In the rust belt helps. Thinking closer to the East Coast might be better.

How close did you look - putty pete can be very crafty at covering damage. I'd look at the price of replacement parts and whole units plus the aluminium jobs to get some idea of value.
