Yep, I really don't really care that much I guess.

I have a lead on a lot of 4 PZJ-75s.

1PZ motors, H55F trannys and full floaters.

Ex Canadian mine rigs

Non-OEM beds and (from what I have seen) very salvageable interior, cabs and front clips (minus funky non-OEM hoods).

AFAIK titling them for road use will not be possible.

Might be able to build a hybrid (or4) on an titled US frame the way Profits and others are doing.

I have never paid much attention to this motor.

Anyone have any info/experience to share?

i want one.

there good engines.
Essentially a 1hz with one less cylinder.
Parts will be no issue.
Similar power to a 3b from what I am told.

I noticed that it looked very much like a 1HZ. And seems to be begging for a turbo t be added. ;)

So far all I have is pictures of the rigs. A friend is looking into the situation and if we make it happen will want one for himself of course. :)

more power than the 3B although same displacement
quieter than a 3B, think gasser with slight tick
turbo'd then a hoot to drive.
never came with H55 since no input shaft so MAKE SURE it is a H55, i suspect you will find it is a R141. these trannies have the same gear ratios as the H55 or the H41 but no overdrive.
if the bodies are solid then ... if you are getting them for a good price ... SCORE.
the axles can be either 4.11 or 4.56 usually 4.56 were used in the mine application.
t/case ratio was usually the 2.29

i LOVE them.

I just looked at the data tag from one of them again... yep, R141 tranny and the axle code is K975.

Since we're on the topic of 1PZs.

What is the communities' opinion on projected part availability for this motor?
I know the 1HZ has been virtually sold everywhere in the world, but how about the 1PZ?

Thanks,

Kroll

We ran these in deserts of northern Kenya without a hitch.
Desert heat constant 40-45C day and night and the PZ-75 series ran great.

Pretty much the same engine as the 1HZ, with a few exceptions - cyl head, flywheel (can be changed to the 1HZ), inj pump, block, cam etc.

The service parts should not be a problem at all.

about clutch they use at least down here kind of vibrating compensator flywheel ( with springs and fancy stuff ) thought to compensate vibrations happen with 5 cilinders and not 6 .. well the case it's if this flywheel fail .. down here it cost eye and arm ..

Few folks replace it with 1HZ one with premature ( 50 - 100km range ) of the rear main seal ..

Thanks for the feed back guys. This encouraging. I was afraid I was gonna find out that the 1PZ was a bastard child that had been forsaken by Toyota after a short run because it did nit work out.

Souds like this is not the case. Cool. :)

For the folks who have emailed me hoping for a shot at one of the rigs.... this is still just a "lead" tht I am following. IF it works out, I expect that whatever is usable from the 4 will be spoken for by the time I have then in hand. :)

Heck, *I* may get cut out of the deal even! LOL

Just a stray thought.... does anyone know if a 1PZ will bolt to the front of an R151 from behind a 3.0 or 3.4 V6?

Since I have not inspected the rigs yet, I will be surprised if *all* the sheet metal turns out to be good enough to contemplate the effort of Hybridizing them onto different Cruiser frames.

A 1PZ turbo'd, in a mid '90s extended cab minitruck with an SAS would be intriguing.

i did the measurement for sticking the PZ into a mini truck engine bay and you will need to move the rad forward about 4" to make it work.
the input shaft is different but if you can make the swap then it would bolt up fine.

you will love the gearing and the torque of the PZ off road, idling along all day just sipping the fuel and a little blurp on the throttle now just for the fun of it.

I have moved rads right up against the grill in a couple of V8 minitruck swaps, so this does not bother me. I have a clutch shop in town that will build me a custom clutch disc while I wait. So I *think* that so long as the bellhousing of the 1PZ R141 will bolt onto the R151 from behind a 3.0, (or if they actually shared the same pattern at the back of the block!!!) then this idea should be doable... assuming of course that I wind up wit a motor or 3.

Intriguing :)

Mark...

the bolt pattern is the same, the input shaft is much longer with the PZ but i am ... intrigued ... as well

A slip on spud shaft arrangement could be made to extend the input shaft. Easy stuff! ;)

Mark...

Haha.... chances are it is the same one since we are both swimming in the same pond. ;)

But if is it, it is. I am/was just at the "hey I may have found something here" stage.

These were still available as of a couple of days ago so if your deal was closed prior to that then as long as the odds are against it, it *may* be different situations.

Still intrigued with the idea of a 1PZ in a mini though... gonna have to keep this in mind regardless. ;)

Mark...

Well, If they were up here in Fairbanks, they are spoken for, Unless you know of a few others up here. There definitely are only three up here though, not four, so maybe you found a different stash. Also, The ones we bought have the 1HZ in them, not the 1PZ. It might be the same mine gave out 70 series to a few places.
